For the unversed, the defamation case was filed by Javed Akhtar last year against Kangana for passing defamatory remarks during an interview. The interview was held post the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
As per the complaint, Kangana linked the lyricist to the demise of Sushant and referred his name while stating that a “coterie” exists in Bollywood.
Akhtar had filed the complaint in November 2020 and the police took cognisance of the same. On further investigations, Akhtar even submitted a copy of his complaint to the Juhu Police station as well as a recording of Kangana's interview which reportedly dates back to July 2020.
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away in June 2020 in his apartment in Mumbai. The actor's demise left his fans devastated and furious at the workings of the Hindi film industry.
