Actor Prashant Narayanan, who works predominantly in Hindi and Malayalam cinema, and his Bengali wife Shona had been arrested from Mumbai for their alleged involvement in a cheating case. The 50 year old actor has been sent to jail by a Kerala court. Inspector A Prathap, who arrested the couple, spoke to IANS and said that he reached Mumbai with a seven member Kerala Police team and nabbed the actor.

Sharing details about the case, he said, “The case pertains to cheating. The complainant is Thomas Panicker, who was the producer of a Malayalam film, in which Narayanan acted in 2017. After the film, the two became close and Panicker was told that his wife's father had a company in Mumbai and if he invested in it, he would be made a director.” He went on to add, “Panicker invested Rs 1.2 crore and after that, he came to know he was cheated. He then filed the complaint.”

Prashant Narayanan, who was last seen on the big screen in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic starring Vivek Oberoi, has featured in films such as Murder 2, Mudda - The Issue, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, Shadows of Time, Dishkiyaoon, Issaq and Manjhi - The Mountain Man among many others. He also has awards such as the Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and Golden Achiever Award for Excellence In Arts to his credit.
