Dilwale starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon completed two years today. The movie helmed by Rohit Shetty had received a mixed response from fans and critics.

Recently we came across a report which states that earlier Tusshar Kapoor was supposed to play Varun Dhawan's character in the movie but things didn't work out. Following this, Sidharth Malhotra was also apparently considered for the role but even that didn't work out and then Varun came on board.

Recently, Shetty agreed that something did go wrong with the film. When asked about what he does when a film doesn't work, Rohit, in an interaction with a media agency said, "We rectify what all went wrong. My whole team sits (and introspects), even it is a hit. Like Golmaal Returns was the biggest hit of the year. But we knew it was a crap film. In Singham 2 we knew the villain went wrong. Singham is a cult film but in (part) two the villain's character went wrong. In Dilwale, the whole Shah Rukh-Kajol story went wrong," he added.

According to a report in a leading daily, Rohit and SRK are keen on recreating Angoor on the big screen. When asked about the same, Rohit said, "If you give SRK (a film like) Angoor, he will make it into a watermelon! It’s a very sweet story. But when we try to make a simple film bigger, its essence and sweetness diminishes and it goes into another zone. I can go to a hill station, and make a film like Angoor in two months and come back. But I’m still wondering if I want to make a film on that scale or not."

Rohit was further asked about making movies which are larger than life. He replied, "When we were kids, we looked up to filmmakers like Vijay Anand and Manmohan Desai. Later, when we worked as assistant directors, we were inspired by filmmakers like Mukul S Anand. Back then, they didn’t have big budgets but even then they made grand films. Now we have the budgets and technical advantage, but strangely, fewer grand films. My schooling in movies comes from films of those days. So for me, cinema is 70mm, larger than life. When someone sees a film in theaters, it should be a big cinematic experience."

I dont know about his other movies, but Tushar in the entire Golmal series was sheer comic genius and brilliant!

This movie shouldn't even have had two heroes honestly. Shoud've just been Romeo and Juliet with SRK and Kajol.

Lol but tushhar can act better than varun for sure

It would have been good for Varun, it is only a dent in his marvelous career.

Thank God... Already the movie was unbearable, with Tusshar... sochke hi Darr Lagta hai

Tushar Kapoor made a huge mistake by getting into acting. It is a torture watching him on screen. He could easily compete with both John Abraham and Katrina kaif for the most wooden expression ever.

Is he still relevant?

Why would they choose Tushar or Sidharth over Varun. Varun is far bigger crowd puller and comedy is his forte. Looks like false news to me.
