Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat that features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles is one of the biggest hits of all time. The film, which is said to be among the most expensive Indian films ever made, broke many box office records upon release. The movie starred Deepika as Rani Padmavati, a Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid. For the first time, Ranveer was seen in a negative role on the silver screen. The Gully Boy actor portrayed the role of a ruthless Sultan Alauddin Khilji in the movie.

Padmaavat was one film that remained in the news owing to the controversy around the title due to which later on it was changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat. It also sparked a lot of controversies for the alleged distortion of history. Riots broke out in parts of Rajasthan, opposing the film's release for the romantic angle between Queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. Not just this, many also raised an objection to the song Ghoomar. Amid all of this, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial saw the light of the day on 25 January 2018. The film received rave reviews not just from the critics but also managed to win over the hearts of audiences.

Padmaavat also featured Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka in supporting roles. The movie was loved for the actors’ stellar performances, songs, and for ts grandeur.
