The Election Commission on Wednesday stopped the PM Narendra Modi biopic from releasing tomorrow and the decision has drawn reaction from Bollywood actors. The EC panel stated that the film will not be released until the Lok Sabha General elections conclude since the political drama disturbs the level-playing field. A Congress leader had petitioned against the release of the film and stated that the release ahead of the Lok Sabha elections will affect voting pattern.

The film has been courting controversy since it was announced, with the Opposition party crusading against it. Just yesterday, the film was awarded a U certificate. The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that "too much of court time is wasted on these non-issues". It also handed over the power to the Election Commission to decide if the film tilted the balance in favour of the ruling BJP.

Actress Renuka Shahane took to Twitter to voice her opinion. Opposing the EC, Renuka tweeted, "I don't support the postponing of any film if our censor board has passed it & if the family members of the person on whom the film is based have no objections. The EC should concentrate on political parties to see that they're adhering to the rules rather than films & tv serials." Check out her tweet below:

Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi also refused to see the trailer of the film. It will be interesting to see what release date the film gets after going through some serious ups and downs. Let us know what are your thoughts on the film in the comments below.
