After the success of Manmarziyaan in 2018, Anurag Kashyap has now begun shooting for his next film which is a sports drama titled as 'Saand Ki Aankh'. The film was put on the backburner due to a host of issues, but the film-maker recently announced that the project is back on track. The film will see actresses Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles and an ecstatic Taapsee had recently taken to Instagram to share the news. The film is a sports drama and is based on the UP-based octogenarian women sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.

The latest addition to the film's cast is director-actor-writer Prakash Jha who will be seen in a significant role in the film. Jha took to Twitter to share the news and posed with the gang of women sharpshooters. He wrote, "Shooter ke do aage shooter..Shooter ke do peeche shooter.. Aage shooter peeche shooter..Bolo kitne Shooter!! With the ⁦@shooterdadi⁩ ⁦@realshooterdadi⁩ and the shooter womenias in Johri... @anuragkashyap72⁩ ⁦@taapsee⁩ ⁦@bhumipednekar⁩ @tushar1307."

Taapsee and Bhumi have already begun shooting for the film. The sharpshooters are popularly known as ‘revolver dadis’ or 'shooter dadis' of Johri, Uttar Pradesh. Bhumi is playing the role of Chandro Tomar, while Taapsee is in the role of Prakashi Tomar.

The film was also in news because Anurag Kashyap and Pritish Nandy were at loggerheads over the title of the film. Reports suggested that Kashyap, who holds the intellectual property rights for the term ‘womaniya’ for his film Gangs of Wasseypur song couldn't officially register it as the film's title since it had already been registered under Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd.
