Over the weekend, a host of musicians and artists from around the world made their way to Maharashtra's Pune to perform at the Supersonic music festival. From Will Smith's son Jaden Smith to American DJ and electronic music producer Marshmello, the annual music festival is hailed by enthusiasts and fans alike. However, the festival organisers have found themselves in a fix after right-wing groups raised objections to the performances in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

Marshemello, who arrived in India a few days back, performed his set to large number of people. He was also the only artist to observe silence for the jawans who lost their lives in the line of service in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Thursday. Before beginning his performance at the Supersonic music festival 2019 in Pune, the DJ said, "Two-minutes silence for the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in a terrorist attack," with the tricolour projected in the backdrop.

According to IANS, the members of these right-wing outfits in a complaint have stated that it was wrong for such an event to take place for enjoyment and raising funds when the entire country was mourning the Pulwama terror attack. Prior to the event, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, Hindu Kranti Dal, Hindu Jagran Manch, Hindu Sena and Shiv Sena had threatened to disrupt the event if it was not cancelled. However, they could not do so because of heavy police deployment.

A fan told news agency IANS after the final show of the music festival, "So many artistes performed at the festival, but it was only Marshmello, who remembered the jawans. I respect him even more now."
