Rajesh Khanna & Amitabh Bachchan's Anand clocks 50 years: Fans recall iconic dialogues to celebrate milestone

Babumoshai Zindagi Badi Honi Chahiye, Lambi Nahi… Who doesn’t remember this iconic dialogue of the blockbuster film Anand? Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the classic film today completes 50 years. Anand as a film has all features right from love, friendship, life lesson and some iconic dialogues. The film brought superstar Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan together on screen. Their on screen chemistry was a treat to watch as it brought tears and made the audience smile as well. This timeless classic celebrates life and death.

And as the film turns 50 years old today, fans paid tribute to it and shared posters, unseen pictures with its dialogues on Twitter. The hashtag #50yearsofAnand is trending on Twitter. Social media is flooded with throwback pictures. When talking about Anand, how can one miss its songs—Kahi Dur Jab Din Dahal Jaye. One of the fan wrote, “A film filled with life lessons , so beautifully made , it was truly flawless cinema!” While another wrote, “A classic that will grow and grow over the years.”

The film also starred Sumita Sanyal, Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo. The film won several awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Film.

Not many know that Anand is counted among the 17 consecutive box office successes of late actor Rajesh Khanna between 1969 and 1971. Anand and Namak Haraam are the only two films in which Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan starred together.
