In the past one year, if there is one actor in Bollywood who has managed to get critical acclaim along with audiences’ applause as well as delivered hits, it is none other than Gully Boy Ranveer Singh. The star who made a mark last year with his epic performances as Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and as Sangram Bhalerao in Rohit Shetty’s Simmba have earned massive credibility to his name. Due to all the successes that Ranveer has delivered, he is now reaping the benefits of his hard work. Post Simmba, Ranveer now will be sharing profits like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan

Yes, he will no longer be taking a fee. But will be sharing a part of the profits with the producers of the film. As per a top trade source, “Ranveer is no longer the heir apparent. He is the superstar of this generation as his track record of delivering blockbusters show. And he has been delivered blockbusters consistently. Post Padmaavat, which saw his performance propel the film to shatter several box office records, Ranveer’s equity has seen a meteoric rise. A first choice of producers and directors, Ranveer now has a substantial pie of the profits and filmmakers are sweetening the deal for him by offering him a big margin!”

After delivering Gully Boy which has managed to enter the 100-crore club within a week of it’s release, Ranveer Singh is now a big brand. His hard work over the years has finally paid off and will now be enjoying the benefits of the same. Seeing his track records, producers also don’t mind sharing the profits with the superstar. The source added, “Ranveer’s on top form with back to back blockbusters and from Simmba he has been getting a major percentage of profit share. Kabir Khan’s 83 has a big profit percentage carved out for Ranveer. In fact, for all films going forward, Ranveer will have profit share chalked out for him. Only the big superstars of our times have been able to command this status and Ranveer has reached this place in just 8 years. It’s an incredible success story.”

However, amidst this, Ranveer isn’t ignorant to the fact that charging an exorbitant fee will overburden the film. Hence, profit sharing is a boon to the producers of the film. Since all his past films have been blockbusters, he would have hiked his fee as a part of a normal career progression. But, now, since Ranveer is a team player, he is choosing to opt for profit sharing in order to avoid overburdening the producers and the film. The source added, “Ranveer is a very conscious actor who doesn’t believe in front loading a film. He is confident of what he brings to the table as an actor and a star, he is a collaborative person and it’s very good that he wants the film to do well first and then have a share of profits. It only shows that he stands by his decision to do a film and for the producers too it’s a huge win win because they have an invested actor who is committed to deliver the best for a film first and not just think about his price. Aamir, Salman both work on this model and it’s only fair for these superstars to get a piece of the pie when they give their lives to a project.”

He’s the best right now. No denying that. True hard work indeed pays off. Most deserving actor I’ve ever seen.

He's nuts. This is a poor business decision. Most senior stars, blockbuster or flop, produce the movies in which they profit share, so it doesn't logically make sense to take a salary when they made the movie, it's like paying themselves. They accept the loss because they are the ones making the decisions throughout the movie-making process, even picking the actresses and everything. Ranveer doesn't have a production company. This is completely blind-trust-falling into the hands of people like Karan Johar and whoever is making his current movie, and if it flops, he will be the one who suffers for no reason.

Man, he's earned this. More power to the guy.
