After playing the rustic and raw Simmba and amidst making us go all 'ohhhh' with his Gully Boy avatar, Ranveer Singh has already gotten himself into former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev's avatar. Ranveer visited a cricket field with director Kabir Khan from where he even shared a picture on Instagram and captioned it, "#kapildev @83thefilm #balwindersinghsandhu @kabirkhankk." In the picture, Ranveer is seen wearing the cricketing pads with a cap and a swinging bat making for quite a vision.

For those unaware, Dev captained the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. He was also India's national cricket coach between October 1999 and August 2000. On 11 March 2010, Dev was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Ranveer, in a recent interview, had opened up about playing the role of Kapil Dev and said that he doesn't know how will he get into the skin of the character but is very excited, obviously. Fans have already started looking forward to the movie.

The movie goes on floors soon. Meanwhile, there were speculations that Deepika Padukone might join Ranveer in the movie playing his on-screen wife. But looks like that is not happening. Deepika has reportedly declined the offer as she has very little to do in it. A source informed Deccan Chronicle, "'83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it.”
