From Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat to Sangram Bhalerao in Simmba, Ranveer Singh’s transition from the villainous broody actor of Sanjay Leela Bhansali to a Rohit Shetty’s cop, has been, at the risk of sounding like a Ranveer fan, mind-blowing. As we speak, Ranveer Singh is promoting Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, where he will be essaying the role of an underground rapper and soon after, Ranveer Singh will switch roles and invest all his overflowing energy into the biopic of Kapil Dev. That’s right!

We are sure that it won’t be easy to physically and mentally transform into former Indian skipper Kapil Dev but knowing Ranveer, he is ready to go the extra mile to deliver the best for the film. “I am looking forward to spending time with Kapil sir. I feel that would be integral to my process of transforming myself into him. I want to absorb as much as I can from him — his story, experiences, thoughts, feelings, expressions, and energy,” Ranveer Singh informed DNA. Before Ranveer starts shooting for the film in Chandigarh, Kapil Dev’s hometown, he wants to grasp as much as he can from the legendary cricketer and is looking forward to getting cricketing tips from the legend himself.

Ranveer said, “I’m keen on getting tips on bowling and batting from the man himself. His achievements are extraordinary. He is the quintessential underdog who became a champion through perseverance, self-belief, hard work and a positive mindset. I am extremely inspired by him. I want to pour myself fully into this exciting character.” While Kabir Khan will be directing ’83, the film will chronicle the journey of Kapil Dev and his hard work and determination that allowed Team India to win the World Cup. In the latest, it is being reported that Pankaj Tripathi has come onboard to essay the role of PR Man Singh, the team’s manager in the film.

It is also being reported that Ranveer Singh will be shooting at the iconic Lords cricket stadium in England in order to recreate India’s 1983 World Cup-winning moment, where Kapil Dev won the World Cup as captain of Team India. Gully Boy will release on Valentine’s Day i.e. February 14, 2019, and the film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles and it is for the first time that fans will be seeing them together on the silver screen.
