Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is in New York since last year with his wife Neetu Kapoor for his medical treatment. Ranbir Kapoor and his girlfriend Alia Bhatt visited Rishi in December 2018. Back in September 2018, Rishi took to his Twitter handle to inform his fans that he is flying off to USA for some medical treatment, and since then, he hasn’t returned to India.
Recently, Rishi informed his well wishers that, "My eighth month of treatment started on May 1 in the US. But God has been kind! I am in remission, meaning now I am cancer-free." Moreover, he later on revealed how the initial months were a struggle and difficult, as he drastically lost about 24 kilos. In his latest interview, Rishi also opened up on why exactly his treatment took so long. “I had to wait for six to eight weeks between cycles and that is why it has taken so long. It would have been easier had I been in Mumbai, but my condition needed me to be in New York," he said.
Many Bollywood celebrities visited Rishi in New York. Sonali Bendre, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher and many others shared pictures of their visit. Rishi's son Ranbir Kapoor and his girlfriend Alia Bhatt also went to US to celebrate New Year's Eve with Ranbir's parents. Rishi had said earlier, “My kids Ranbir and Ridhima have really shouldered my problems.” The senior actor is expected to return back to India in around two months.
