Mukesh Chhabra’s Dil Bechara saw the exceptional acting ability of the film’s lead Sanjana Sanghi. The B-town diva who made her film debut with Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar was seen in smaller roles when she first started out. Before being put under the spotlight with the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer, the actress, in her words, was ‘open’ to all kinds of roles and managed school along with her work life to take up different opportunities. The actress recently opened up about her journey in Bollywood with an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla.

Sanjana shared her experience working with Imtiaz Ali and late Irrfan Khan. The actress revealed she learned a lot from the two. Firstly, she mentioned Imtiaz telling her how living a culturally sound life and focusing on education would help one in becoming a good actor. Furthermore, she added the Lunchbox star had taught her the importance of improvisation by practicing theatre. “It was a focus on theatre and understanding that being able to improvise is everything as an actor. It’s not just about that line in the script, it’s about what you bring to the script and how you make it your own” she said.

Apart from Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, Sanjana has also been a part of Saket Chaudhary’s Hindi Medium and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s Fukrey Returns. Coming from the grassroots level, the actress struggled hard to get the recognition she now gets. Fans are waiting to see the star in alongside Aditya Roy Kapur in Om: The Battle Within.
