Shah Rukh Khan is NOT remaking R Madhavan’s Vikram Vedha for this reason
Bollywood is currently obsessed with remakes. While Rohit Shetty is all set to remake Temper with Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn keen on producing the Jigarthanda remake, reports suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was keen on producing and acting in R Madhavan's Vikram Vedha.
However, now a report suggests that Shah Rukh has finally put her project on the back burner.
A source informed a leading daily, “R Madhavan, who acted in Vikram Vedha, brought the film to Shah Rukh, who initially seemed interested in remaking it. But currently, that plan has been put on the back burner. Shah Rukh isn’t remaking Vikram Vedha anymore.”
Vikram Vedha is a Tamil film which revolves around a cop who is shown ruthless but turns out to be a hero in the end. It is said that Madhavan wanted SRK to play his character from the original but the superstar apparently had other plans. “Shah Rukh loved Vijay Sethupathi’s character (Vedha — the gangster). He found Vedha more edgy and interesting. After watching the film, he knew that if he remade it, he would play the grey character of Vedha,” the source added.
Adding further, the source revealed, “There were two things. Although Shah Rukh loved the film, it’s an extremely layered and risky project to be made in Hindi. Plus, since SRK wanted to play the gangster who eventually turns out to be a hero, the space is very similar to his Fan where you end up sympathising with the film’s villain. So, at least for now, Shah Rukh is not remaking it.”
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is busy with Aanand L Rai's next untitled which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.
