Shah Rukh Khan’s paternal cousin Noor Jehan who resides in Pakistan will be contesting elections from Peshawar. Noor Jehan is close to Shah Rukh Khan and has visited him twice. According to The Express Tribune, Noor Jehan will be running for a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat as an independent candidate.
Noor Jehan told The Express Tribune, “I want to work for women’s empowerment… I’d like to focus on the problems in my constituency.” She said that she hoped that people would support her like they support her cousin.
She was also quoted as saying, “I hope people support me in the same way they support Shah Rukh Khan.”
Shah Rukh Khan had said in an earlier interview that his family is from Peshawar and a few of his family members still reside there. He had said that he would love to visit Peshawar with his children as he had visited with his father when he was 15 years old. He said that he really wishes to take his children there and had commended the people there for being so warm and welcoming.
“We have a political legacy attached to the family,” Noor Jehan’s brother said as she has also served as a councillor.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is busy with the shoot of Zero in the United States. Shah Rukh has been shooting for the film and has been stationed in the country for the past month. The film also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif and will release in December this year.
