If there is one film of 2019 that the audience loved but the critics didn’t, it is Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani’s Kabir Singh. The film was about a young doctor who falls in love with a girl at his college. However, his bad temper comes in the way of their relationship and the girl is married to someone else, leaving Kabir aka Shahid heartbroken. While the audience loved the portrayal by Shahid of a flawed character who is an alcoholic angry doctor, critics didn’t like it and criticised the film.

In several chats and interviews, Shahid has spoken up about his film’s criticism. Now, in a recent interview, Shahid mentioned that as an actor he had to be honest and portray even a flawed character in the most earnest way. Shahid mentioned that even the audience has changed and wants to see the truth the way it is. Shahid said that not everyone is liked in their life by everyone at all times in their life and even mentioned that at some point, even his parents might have disliked him. The 38-year-old actor even added that as an actor he needs to portray life as it is.

Shahid said, “I must've gone through phases where even my parents probably really disliked me. If I'm playing a character why should I be not showing all those facets? Why should we create this bubblegum reality which doesn't exist. Today a film which is so real and raw is making Rs 280 crore. We need to wake up and realise that the audience wants to see a little bit of the truth. They don't want to watch single-dimensional films.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid’s last film managed to break box office records and now as per reports, the actor might be taking on another Hindi remake of a South film, Jersey. The leading lady of the film has not been finalised as of now. Reportedly, the Shahid will start shooting for the film in November. On the personal front, Shahid and his wife, Mira Rajput will be moving to a new abode with their kids, Misha and Zain.
