Shahid Kapoor's latest release Kabir Singh earned more than Rs 200 crores at the box office. The film is directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy and also stars Kiara Advani in the lead role. While some people appreciated the film, many didn't like the toxic and violent portrayal of the main hero in it.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Shahid Kapoor was asked about his character. The actor said that his job as an actor is to portray a character and it's the audience's discretion to like or dislike him for all the character's good. He added that he never plays himself in the movies and everyone knows who he is. He is a vegetarian and doesn't drink and is married and has kids.

About the film's success, the Haider actor said that he has been in the industry for 15 years, but this is something so phenomenal to him that he is still absorbing it. He added that he is at a place in his career where he is happy to take his time.

He blindly shared the film companion interview on twitter? Did he even listen to Reddy’s views or does he hold similar views? Paison ke liye itne bhi andhe mat bano.

It appears that some ‘old school’ cinema-goers still expect perfection from Bollywood film leads. For them a film’s hero needs to be all good while a villain all bad. In reality though people aren’t perfect but a mix of good and bad character traits. It’s high time that the old-schoolers woke up to the fact that Bollywood films need to evolve from the schmaltzy to the real. Indeed, I believe it’s the honest character portrayals in Kabir Singh that has led to the movie becoming such a blockbuster success worldwide. Audiences can relate to the film’s authentically drawn characters and have found that to be a refreshing change. The few naysayers of the film have been far outnumbered by those who have voted for it with their feet in cinemas across the globe.

box office numbers speak for itself. it was a good movie

Shahid kapoors acting was phenomenal however I didn't like the movie. There was no story. Morals or values.

“Kabir Singh is a flawed character. Don’t be like him.” A simple message would have been better than all the bs sexist defence and the director just made it worse by opening his mouth.

Shahid has said that many times but people still want to judge the character... so he is saying that its upto the audience to like him or dislike him.
