Sidharth Malhotra was last seen in the film Aiyaary. The film was directed by Neeraj Pandey and also starred Manoj Bajpayee and Rakul Preet Singh. The film failed to impress the audience and the critics. Currently, the actor is shooting for Jabariya Jodi. He stars alongside Parineeti Chopra in the film. This is their second film together after Hasee Toh Phasee. The actors have already started with the shoot in Lucknow and will later shoot some parts in Patna. As per the reports, the Ittefaq actor was offered Anurag Basu's film. However, he opted out of it.

Sid was supposed to work with Taapsee Pannu in this film. About Sidharth Malhotra walking out of the film, a source informed DNA, "Sid is not a part of the project anymore. He was supposed to be paired opposite Taapsee Pannu and theirs was a funny love story. But now, the filmmakers will have to look for another younger actor to star in his place." Earlier, Arjun Kapoor was supposed to be a part of this film. However, due to date issues even he had to opt out.

Talking about Jabariya Jodi, the film was earlier titled as Shotgun Shaadi. Jabariya Jodi means forced couple and the film is based on the subject of how grooms get kidnapped and are forced to marry. Jabariya Jodi is being helmed by Prashant Singh and it is produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.

After Jabariya Jodi, Sidharth Malhotra will be seen in Caption Vikram Batra's biopic. It will be directed by Vishnu Varadhan and produced by Karan Johar's home banner Dharma Productions.
