Sonakshi Sinha hails women scientists for leading India's most ambitious space mission Chandrayaan 2

Come Monday and India will take a huge step in the international space race as the most ambitious space mission, Chandrayaan-2, will take off in the early hours of 15 July, 2019.

Come Monday and India will take a huge step in the international space race as the most ambitious space mission, Chandrayaan-2, will take off in the early hours of 15 July, 2019. This will also be the first space mission being led by women. India’s second lunar mission, Chandrayaan 2, almost 10 years after the first one will be headed by Muthyya Vanitha as project director and Ritu Karidhal as mission director. As the countdown begins, actress Sonakshi Sinha, who will soon be seen in Mission Mangal, took to Twitter to cheer the women scientists.  

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman, K Sivan, revealed in a press conference that 30 per cent of Chandrayaan-2 team are women. Sonakshi wrote, "One of India's most important and prestigious space missions, #Chandrayaan2, is led by women, which also happens to be a first for @isro! Proud of our spacewomen.To the moon!!! #GirlPower #ISRO #MissionMangal." This is not the first time Sonakshi has been a cheerleader for girl power. Just a few days ago, the actress hailed Indian sports women for bringing laurels and first golds in international athletics events.

Mission Mangal which is scheduled to release on 15th August will also see Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menon, Kriti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi. The film will be facing a box office clash with Saaho and Batla House.
