Superstar actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth who was last seen in the film, Petta has left everyone in shock by putting out the statement that he will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “No one should use my photo or flags in the name of Rajini Makkal Mandram and Rajini Fan Club to support or campaign for any party,” the actor said in a statement. The statement has been issued by Rajinikanth’s political party, Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM).

The superstar has strictly warned that nobody should use his photo and asked the people to vote for a government which will resolve the water crisis permanently in the state. "My photo or party symbol should strictly not be used for any propaganda. The biggest problem in Tamil Nadu is water scarcity. The party which promises the best policies which will resolve the water crisis permanently in the state should be the one the people should vote for," he said

This announcement by Rajinikanth has come a day after reports of seat-sharing talks between the ruling AIADMK and the BJP; and the opposition DMK and the Congress.
