Sushant Singh Rajput's upcoming film Sounchiriya, which portrays him as a dacoit in the infamous region of Chambal has been in the news for quite some time now. While it is his first film with director Abhishek Chaubey, the actor admitted to pursuing the director hoping for a project long before he finally bagged the film. The trailer of the film release a couple of weeks back, and it did receive quite rave reviews post the same. And well, looks like we do have another one of its kind film coming our way.

In an interview with mid-day, the actor said how he had been trying different ways to land up at his office accidentally meet him. He also expressed how the director is rather reclusive and called him a unicorn. Sushant revealed how he was elated when the director first offered him the film. He quipped how he met him during the Kedarnath shoot where he narrated the first page of the script in his hotel room which is when he noticed that he had the entire script ready. He then said how knew then that he had to do this film.

He further said how there has been a list of successful of dacoit dramas like Bandit queen (1975) and Paan Singh Tomar (2012). He also mentioned that the film is set in 1975 and that the timeline of Sonchiriya falls between these two films. He further stated how they ensured to take extra care of making sure they used the local dialects for authenticity the actor mentioned.

Sonchiriya will be releasing on March 1, 2019, and also co-stars Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and Ranvir Shorey.
