Ranveer Singh is on roll. He is basking in the success of Simmba and Gully Boy. Ranveer and Karan Johar are collaborating once again for Takht. The film boasts of an ensemble star cast including some big names from the industry like Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. Karan is returning to the director's seat after a long gap of three years. Now, it’s revealed that it was Ranveer who heard the script before anyone else from the team not even Karan’s friend Kareena Kapoor Khan or Alia Bhatt.

At a chat show, Karan revealed, “When I thought of this film, I thought Ranveer Singh has to be in this film. That was my decision. I remember the narration. There would be a huge part in my heart which would’ve been crushed if for some reason you would’ve declined the offer because I had you in mind for Takht always. You were the first person who heard it. Nobody in my family knew this film was ready.” Karan also revealed that he was anxious and wanted Ranveer to say a yes to the project.

Ranveer added, “I just wanna tell people that Karan called me over and when he started narrating the film himself, suddenly I asked myself who is this person? I don’t know this person! His eyes were red, the body was flushed, hands were trembling and there was an aura around him. It was almost like he was tripping.”

If reports are anything to go by, Ranveer will be essaying the role of Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shahjahan, while Vicky will be stepping into the shoes of his younger brother Aurangzeb. Kareena will be seen playing Shahjahan's daughter Jahanara Begum. Alia will reportedly play Ranveer's wife Begum Nadira Banu in the film, while the role of Aurangzeb’s wife Dilras Banu Begum will reportedly be played by Bhumi Pednekar. Janhvi Kapoor is expected to be seen as a slave girl in the epic. The film, which is based on the fight to the finish for the Mughal throne, is slated to hit the screens in 2020.

Ranbir was the original choice especially since this was an apt project to cast him and Kareena as siblings, and pair him with Alia. Ranbir declines since Aurangzeb is a more popular character than Dara Shikoh and with Vicky’s popularity he can easily be overshadowed. Ranveer has no such ego and readily accepted the role.

karan is an opportunist and ranveer is very popular right now. something must have happened with ranbir, can’t believe he wouldn’t want his fave in this film. also kareena and ranbir togwther is something everyone wants to see. watch your back ranveer

Ranveer Singh joker this tine will pass ranveer live it while you can Ranbir Kapoor is the real superstar know that

I thought the Ranveer\Alia pairing rumor was dispelled when Ranveer let it slip that they wouldn't be together in the film? Anyway I'm happy people are now creating projects with him in mind as with Gully Boy.

Wow all of a sudden everyone wants deepika's husband on his team.....
