The Accidental Prime Minister hit the silver screens on Friday after scores of groups and individuals protested its release. The movie received some great reviews from audiences and critics alike. The Anupam Kher starrer which released in 1,300 screens across the country, raked in Rs 3.50 crore on its opening day. However, unfortunately the movie has been leaked online by piracy website Tamilrockers just within two days of its release, reported TOI. Despite a court order to block piracy sites, things have not changed and this might somewhere affect the film's business at the box office.

Just a few days ago, south superstar Rajinikanth's film Petta and Ajith's Viswasam was leaked online by Tamilrockers and the full movie was available for download. Recently, 2.0 producers had moved the Madras High Court to prevent any pirated version to be leaked online, but Tamilrockers once again leaked another much-awaited film.

As soon as The Accidental Prime Minister's trailer was released, it created quite a stir among the political circles with party workers as well as politicians speaking out against it. Recently, a Bihar court, too, filed an FIR against actors Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna and 15 others for portraying politicians and public figures in 'bad light'. Anupam Kher clearly stated that, "I am not going to back off. This is my life’s best performance. #DrManmohanSingh will agree after seeing the film that it is a 100% accurate depiction."

Madraas HC had earlier ordered more than 12,000 websites to be blocked, but the industry continues to tackle with the problem of online piracy. Reportedly, fans have urged the Tamil Film Producers Council to take some concrete step to stop piracy.
