It can safely be said that Former Miss India is the pioneer of the Me Too movement in India. Why? Because a few weeks back, Tanushree Dutta renewed decade-old sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar that took place on the sets of the 2008 film Horn Ok Pleassss. As soon as Tanushree Dutta came out in the open, a lot of women mustered the courage to follow suit and name and shame their sexual predators. From Vinta Nanda, Shweta Pandit, Sandhya Mridul, Amyra Dastur, Sona Mohapatra, Saloni Chopra, and others have taken to social media to narrate their Me Too stories and since then, the Me Too hashtag has become a cry against sexual harassment, with women coming out with their #MeToo stories. After Tanushree’s Me Too story, a lot of prominent personalities have come under the scanner for their sexual misconduct including Vikas Bahl, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher, Jatin Das, Sajid Khan, Subhash Kapoor, and others.

After kicking up the storm in India, from holding various interviews to addressing press conferences, Tanushree Dutta has had a rollercoaster ride and although the accused haven’t been put behind the bars but in the wake of the sexual allegations, Nana Patekar had to step down from Housefull 4. Today, Tanushree Dutta, took to social media and posted pictures with her family as she bid good-bye to India. Alongside pictures of her parents and sister and TV actress Ishita Dutta, Tanushree wrote, “On my way to USA!! Feels strange returning after almost 6 months. Will miss my family the most!! #lifejourneys.”

In another post, Tanushree decided to ward off all the negative users on her Instagram channel as she wrote, “Long journey ahead!! So finally have the free time to block all those followers who post nasty comments on my insta account so that only my well-wishers get the updates on my life. Buzz off pathetic losers!! Your opinion or your life is both worth shit to me. You will do nothing better in your life than trolling public figures.”

Before leaving for the US, Tanushree, in an interview to Times of India had said, “This has been the longest vacation of my life and the most harrowing one. I almost don’t remember what my life was like in the US before this.”
