Vivek Agnihotri who is best known for his movies such as Chocolate and De Dhana Dhan Goal has come up with a political drama The Tashkent Files. The movie revolves around conspiracy theories and inquiry committee which investigates the death of the late Prime Minister’s Lal Bahadur Shastri. For the unversed, just like freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Shastri's demise till date remains unsolved.

For the uninitiated, Shastri, who succeeded Jawaharlal Nehru as Prime Minister in 1964, died in Tashkent on January 11, 1966, from a heart attack. A day prior, he had signed the Tashkent Declaration Agreement, a peace treaty between India and Pakistan following the Indo-Pak War which took place in 1965. The movie also showcases how his death apparently was connected to Subhash Chandra Bose.

“On January 10, 1966, Shastri had signed the Tashkent Agreement and hours later he died. A death mystery unsolved to date. Was it a heart attack or poison? The truth of the biggest cover up has been denied to his family and us,” Vivek Agnihotri told PTI.

Talking about the movie's star cast, it stars Shweta Basu Prasad as Raagini Phule, Mithun Chakraborty as Shyam Sundar Tripathi, Naseeruddin Shah as PKR Natrajan, Pallavi Joshi as Aisha Ali Shah, Pankaj Tripathi as Gangaram Jha. Vinay Pathak, Mandira Bedi, Ankur Rathee and Prakash Belawadi also feature in the movie in pivotal roles.

The movie is all set to release on April 12, 2019. The movie's tag line is controversial as it reads that his death is the biggest cover-up of Indian politics. What are your views on the trailer? Let us know in the comments section below.
