Thackeray starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role as Shiv Sena Supremo late Balasaheb Thackeray has finally released in the theatres today. The movie mounted on a relatively small budget clashes with Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which has been made on a massive scale with the production cost soaring. As the movie released amidst much hype this morning, we got in touch with the trade analyst to know how is the movie faring, according to initial records. 

Trade Analyst Girish Johar is optimistic about the movie's growth and said that it has opened to a decent occupancy of 10-15%. "I am putting around 10-15% and I am hearing some good reviews for it. I am expecting it to pick up in the evening shows. Which movie is doing better amongst the two (Manikarnika and Thackeray), we will only know later in the evening." The film is directed by Abhijit Panse and produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Panse is also MNS leader and on the occasion of Bal Thackeray's birth anniversary yesterday, a special screening of the film was held at a popular theatre in Mumbai.
