Kangana Ranaut, who was last seen in Judgementall Hai Kya is currently prepping up for her upcoming film, Thalaivi, a biopic based on the life of late politician and film actress J Jayalalithaa. The actress has been working hard for the film. From learning the Tamil language to learning Bharatnatyam, the actress is putting in her best to get into the character of the film. In order to gain weight for the film, Kangana had even taken some hormone pills. The actress said that she found that there were a lot of similarities between her life and Jayalalithaa. She had gone through a lot of struggles in her life, but despite that, she was a successful actress and a politician.

Today on the occasion of J Jayalalithaa's death anniversary, Kangana Ranaut was spotted on the sets paying her respects to the late actress. Kangana was donning a blue coloured floral print checkered matching top and pants and was seen seeking Jayalalithaa's blessings. For the uninitiated, J Jayalalithaa was an Indian politician and film actress who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years between 1991 and 2016. On September 2016, she fell severely ill and was hospitalized for 75 days. On 5th December 2016, the former actress and politician passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Talking about the biopic, Kangana said that the makers are not going to take any shortcuts when it comes to the film. She added that there are four phases of Jayalalithaa's life — from the age of 16, her 20s, 30s and 40s. They will talk about her journey of becoming a superstar, the Tamil film industry, her equation with MGR and M Karunanidhi, the political environment of Tamil Nadu in those days and if it works, they will make another part just about her political journey.

Directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R. Singh under their respective banners Vibri Media and Karma Media And Entertainment, Thalaivi is all set to release on 20th February 2020.
