Thalaivi: Kangana Ranaut was on mild doses of hormone pills to look like J Jayalalithaa; Deets Inside

On gaining weight for the role, Kangana said that it was needed so as to look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since Kangana is tall and skinny, and her face is angular, not round, she had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different.

Kangana Ranaut is all geared up for her upcoming film Thalaivi which is a biopic based on the life of political stalwart, J Jayalalithaa and will feature Kangana as the leading lady. This Saturday, the first look poster of the movie featuring Kangana as J Jayalalithaa was out. In classic Jayalalithaa style, Kangana can be seen clad in a dark green cape with a border and a bottom. With a circular bindi on her forehead just like the late CM, Kangana seems to have nailed the complete look of the actor-turned-politician.

Kangana in a recent interview with Mid Day opened up about her commendable transformation as J Jayalalithaa in AL Vijay's directorial venture. She said that when aping a person for cinema, actors usually get the apparel and appearances on point, but not the physical transformation. Vijay wanted her to resemble her as closely as possible. Jayalalithaa endured a drastic physical transformation in her life. Having grown up as a Bharatanatyam dancer, she had an hour-glass figure. Then, when she joined politics, she had an accident that demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids.
