Think of the most iconic films of all time that one can watch an endless number of times and the first one to top the list is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Karan Johar’s 1998 romantic comedy-drama featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji is one of the most loved films. Though Rani’s character Tina in the film made her an overnight star, she was not the first choice for the role. KJo had offered the role to several top actresses including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Twinkle Khanna, Karisma Kapoor, and Raveena Tandon before it ultimately came to Mukerji.

But do you know why Aish turned down this iconic film? Just a year after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released, the Taal actress revealed the reason why she refused Tina's role in an old interview with Filmfare. Talking about the same, the actress, who was just three films old at the time, told the popular magazine, “I'm in a catch-22 situation. Though I'm a newcomer, I'm compared with all the senior actresses.”

“If I'd done the film, it would have been tittered that, 'Look, Aishwarya Rai is back to doing what she did in her modeling days—leaving her hair straight, wearing minis, and pouting glamorously into the camera.' Ultimately, the hero goes back to the more real person. I know if I'd done Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I would have been lynched,” Aish concluded.

On a related note, filmed in India, Mauritius, and Scotland, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Aishwarya Rai was last seen in the 2018 musical film Fanney Khan with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. She will be next seen in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film, Ponniyin Selvan.

Ash has been jealous of every other actress. She has been trying to rain on Karishma and Rani by claiming that Raja Hindustani and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were offered to her. Those movie were made for Rani and Karishma. Ash was a flop newcomer at that time. Why does Aishwarya lie so much?

I dont know about RH but the role of Tina in KKHH was written for Twinkle Khanna by Kjo. She was the first actress to be offered this role but she refused, then kJO approached most actresses who rejected it.

Ash has a habit of associating her name to every project. The director and producer have to later clarify that she is not a part of the project. Such a bold liar

This woman is disgustingly vengeful and full of vengeance.

She always talks about hit movies she was allegedly offered and never praises the performances of the leads. She never says anything nice about anybody. Total fake and up herself.

Hey, we were lucky because we got Rani Mukherjee from all that pouting and mini-skirt-wearing look. Rani turned out to be a fantastic actor! So, thank you Aishwarya.
