The couple first sparked off their dating rumours after making an appearance together at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding reception held in May 2018. It was in the same year when the Rockstar actor had finally confirmed that he was dating the Student of the Year actress in an interview with GQ.

The handsome star had said, “It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to over speak. It needs time to breathe and it needs space.” Also, last year Ranbir spilled the beans on his marriage plans with Alia and asserted that they would have been married if the "pandemic hadn’t hit our lives.” It won’t be wrong to say that the duo has often grabbed headlines owing to their wedding rumours. As we speak of this, it reminds us of the time when Alia and Ranbir’s fake wedding card had gone viral on social media. The card showed the names of the couple along with the names of their respective parents. Further, it mentioned that duo is set to get married on January 22, 2020, at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. Created by a fan, this fake invitation was massively circulated on social media.

Responding to it, Alia had told the paparazzi “Kya batau…Bata diya inko..Mein aapko bola na, itna baat kiya humne, sab kuch discuss kiya. Udti udti khabar hai aur woh udti hee rahegi. (What can I say? I have told them, I have told you. We have talked and discussed it.”
