Twitterati demands Naresh Agarwal be sacked from BJP following his 'indecent remark' on Jaya Bachchan

Former Samajwadi Party member Naresh Agarwal takes a jibe at Jaya Bachchan upsetting the ruling party and Twitterati alike. Following this, people sought his removal from the party.

Former Samajwadi Party member Naresh Agarwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday after he was denied Rajya Sabha ticket by the Samajwadi Party.

Agarwal, who was upset with the SP for favouring veteran actor turned politician Jaya Bachchan over him for the Rajya Sabha nominations, took a jibe at Bachchan calling her a 'nachnewali'.

He said, “Aur filmon mein kaam karnewali se meri haisiyat kar di gayi. Ye filmon mein dance karte, apna role karte, unke naam par hamara ticket kata gaya, mein ne isko bahut uchit nahin samjha. Kisi ne bhi isko uchit nahin samjha. (My status has been equated with women who work in films. For somebody who used to dance in films, act in films, I was denied a (Rajya Sabha) ticket. I did not find it appropriate. Nobody found it appropriate).”

Following this, Sambit Patra, the official spokesperson of the ruling party tried to salvage the damage by making it clear that BJP respects all of them, actors, non-actors, everyone equally.

Even as the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj condemned his statement while welcoming him onboard, Twitterati demanded a stricter punishment.

Twitterati called out the ruling party seeking Agarwal's immediate removal from the party for his indecent remarks.

This is not for the first time that Agarwal has talked his way into a controversy. From linking the names of gods with alcohol to suggesting that former Indian Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav was a terrorist, he has always triggered a row with his irresponsible statements.
