PM Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi has been stopped by the Election Commission from releasing this Friday, reported NDTV. The EC panel said that the film will not be released till the Lok Sabha General elections are over since the political drama disturbs the level-playing field. Just yesterday, the Supreme Court dismissed a Congress leader's petition seeking to stop the release of the film.

In the judgement, the SC observed that "too much of court time is wasted on these non-issues". It also handed over the power to the Election Commission to decide if the film tilted the balance in favour of the ruling BJP, as alleged by the opposition Congress.

The apex court said that too much time of the court has been wasted already, therefore, the EC should decide whether it is violation of the model code of conduct. The court even refused to see the trailer of the film.

Vivek Oberoi on Tuesday appreciated the Supreme Court's stance. He tweeted: "With all your blessings, support and love, today we have won in the Honourable Supreme Court. A humble thank you to all of you and to the Indian judiciary for upholding our faith in democracy." Do you think the biopic on Modi's life will affect the voting pattern? How vain to cast someone so young to play him.

I didn't think it was possible for Vivek Oberoi to sink any lower

Thank God that sense has prevailed. Bollywood needs to be seriously separated from politics - it has become one big maffia!
