John Cena, celebrated WWE superstar, made his return back home in the squared circle this month. From fighting alongside Becky Lynch to tearing the house down against Finn Balor, Cena was back with a bang! More so, John was scheduled as a participant in the 30-man Royal Rumble match. However, in a recent episode of Monday Night Raw, Cena supposedly sustained an ankle injury during a high-paced bout against Finn Balor, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.

"Setbacks are a large part of life. People often say “what a bad time to get hurt” or “I can’t believe this happened to me now” ask yourself, is there a good time to get hurt? Or be setback? Setbacks are just another chance to find triumph! Never give up!" John had tweeted. However, earlier rumours were rife that Cena will begin shooting for a Hollywood movie from January 20 and for the injury to coincide around the same date is quite fishy and purely not coincidental.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Cena's injury is a 'work'. Initially, there was another way in which Cena was to be written off until Wrestlemania 35. It was going to be through NXT wrestler Lars Sullivan.

Lars was supposed to debut on Raw and attack Cena. The two would then be scheduled for a match at Wrestlemania 35 which would have been a huge jumpstart for the up-and-coming wrestler.

However, after an apparent anxiety attack, Lars did not appear on Raw and subsequently flew home before the WWE Smackdown taping, which happened the next day.
