The wife of late Congress MP and actor Ambareesh, Sumalatha has hit the headlines for her entry into politics. The yesteryear actress is being questioned and attacked for contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. However, nothing is bothering the actress to make her way into politics. Recently, Indian politician H D Revanna made sexist remarks against her and also said that how her husband passed away a few months ago, but despite that, she is showing her aspiration to enter into politics.

Revanna had told the media on Friday, “It’s not even been a month since her husband died and instead of grieving, she is already displaying political ambitions and is saying she wants to contest elections. See what level they have stooped to.” Ever since his statement, pressure has been mounting on Revanna to apologise to Sumalatha. However, nothing is demotivating Sumalatha. In an interview with The New Indian Express, the actress said, "On the contrary, it makes me stronger. It makes my decision to contest firmer."

During the same interview, Sumalatha was asked if she is being targetted for a reason, to which she replied as, "I do not know. At a time when people are losing interest in the election narrative of parties, it is time to engage them with plans and programmes and what we have achieved, rather than do this.  We forget that the youth are looking to us and they would like to learn from us and be inspired by us.’’
