Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq is excited at the prospect of facing Australia's Mitchell Starc when the two teams clash on Wednesday in the ongoing Cricket World Cup at Taunton.

The 23-year old stated that he had gained a lot of confidence from facing English pacers like Mark Wood and Jofra Archer and that would help him face the Aussie seamers too.

"Starc isn't a threat," said Imam. "In fact I am excited over the prospect of facing him. Same was said about Archer and Wood but we played them with confidence."

The nephew of great Inzamam-ul-Haq, Imam scored a brisk 44 in an 82-run partnership against England at Nottingham last week, which laid the foundation for the other batters. The side scored 348 runs in thier 50 overs - Pakistan's highest total in a World Cup match.

"You can’t say a bowler is threatening," he said. "I try to prepare according to my strengths instead of bowlers' strengths. I don't think like that, because you need to beat top teams if you want to play the World Cup final."

The left-hander had scored a hunded on hhis ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2017 and got to 151 against England in a bilateral series held between the two countries in May.
