Intentionally or unintentionally, Akshay Kumar's films since Baby (2015) have led to him being touted as the flag-bearer of patriotism in Bollywood. From fighting against terrorism (Baby) to open defecation (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha), Akshay has done it all, and is being hailed by some as 'Bharat Kumar'. 

 

Be it onscreen or offscreen, Akshay has supported social causes. Now, he is a proud  Honorary Ambassador of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation. He took to Instagram to announce the good news. He wrote, “Happy and proud to be the Honorary Ambassador of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Foundation. Keep up the good work, @vinamrashastri. We ought to live by Shastri ji’s ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ motto for our great nation. @lalbahadurshastrifoundation.”

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar-fronted Gold has become the first Bollywood film ever to release in Saudi Arabia. The Reema Kagti-directed sports film is only the second movie after Rajinikanth's hit social drama, Kaala to hit the theatres in the Gulf country.

 

Gold is the fictional re-telling of the India's iconic win at the 1948 London Olympics. Also featuring Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor and Vineet Kumar Singh, the film released on August 15.
