Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is one of the most anticipated films of 2019 and fans are waiting to see it on the big screen. The trailer and posters have created the right buzz for the movie. Manikarnika has been battling with its share of controversies for long, but finally, the film is making its way to the theatres on January 25, 2019. Kangana Ranaut is all set to ace the role of warrior princess Rani Laxmibai, while Ankita Lokhande plays Jhalkaribai in the film. Ankita will be making her Bollywood debut with Manikarnika and is leaving no stone unturned for promoting the film.

She took to Instagram to share a picture of her poster and wrote, “Acting isn’t about being famous, it’s about exploring the human soul. "Everything I learned I learned from the movies”. When people ask me if u went to film school I tell them, 'NO, I went to films'. My whole life has been Movies and Religion. That’s it. Nothing else. I eat, sleep, and dream movies. Though I didn’t understand the seriousness of films until I shot my debut, I feel like on the Top of the world. #jhalkaribai #manikarnikaon25thjan2019.” Ankita will be seen opposite actor Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, who essayed the role of Chimaji Appa in Bajirao Mastani.

On Jhalkaribai's 188th birth anniversary, Ankita Lokhande paid tribute to the warrior with an Instagram post. "On the occasion of Jhalkari Bai's 188th birth anniversary, I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to the women she really was. Jhalkaribai was a woman soldier who played an important role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She served in the women's army of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi. She eventually rose to a position of a prominent advisor to the queen, Rani of Jhansi herself. Her heroism and sacrifices for the society are unsung but this woman was one of the most important factors in the battle of Jhansi," she wrote.

The Queen of Jhansi is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
