Madhubala is considered to be one of the most beautiful and iconic actresses of the Bollywood film indusry. The actress was even compared to the Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe because of her charming beauty and personality. Madhubala has starred in numerous films in Bollywood in between the years 1942 and 1964. She made her acting debut at a mere age of 9 years with the film Basant which was released in the year 1942. However, she got her breakthrough in her acting career with the Raj Kapoor starrer film which was released in the year 1947. Madhubala, who was also known as the venus of Indian Cinema, has acted in more than 70 films in a career of 22 years. 

Madhubala was last seen in the film Jwala opposite Sunil Dutt. This also happened to be her last film which was released in the year 1971, two years after her untimely demise due to prolonged illness. Jwala happens to be her only film which had been shot in colour. Madhubala is famous for portrying the role of Anarkali in the famous film Mughal - e - Azam which co - starred Prithviraj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. The historical drama film which was directed by K. Asif was released in the year 1960. The film later went on to become the highest grossing Indian film of all times. It was also the first black - and - white film which was later digitally converted. The coloured version of the film was released in the year 2004 which went on to become a huge commercial success.
