Based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, PadMan is the story of how one man came up with a revolutionary method of producing cost-effective sanitary napkins and empowered thousands of women across the country in the process. Akshay Kumar has stepped into the shoes of Muruganantham and is all set to educate the masses. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead roles.

Today, Akshay and Sonam stepped out in the city to promote the film. Akshay was wearing a high-neck blue t-shirt with black trousers while Sonam looked stunning in a long floral print gown with maroon boots. She kept her hair open and was all smiles for the camera.

A while back, Sonam had said that Akshay is the best choice to play PadMan. She had tweeted, "Such a pleasure working with the indomitable Akshay Kumar. He was the perfect person to play the role of Padman and has brought a sense of humour and love to the film."

In an earlier interview, when Akshay was asked about starring in PadMan which deals with the topic of menstruation, the actor stated, "If you change nothing, nothing will change. It’s not about being bold, but about breaking taboos that hold us back. I have lived with women all my life, yet I have learnt more about the topic while making this film than ever before. I do not mind who I offend or whose stomach I turn by being bold, this is not the Stone Age; menstruating is natural."

PadMan will hit the theatres on January 25.

Sonam looks gorgeous and too young for Akshay

Wow i didn't recognize him in the thumbnail! Why is he bald?? Isn't he working on Kesari??

Is he sick..? He is looking bad like Charlie Sheen did with every passing day......I could make out about Charlie's sickness before he even talked about himself....

Yay! Sonam-Akshay reunite in third time after Pad Man.

Old men posing with and casting women 20 years younger as their teacher/mentor, another trick to make the audiences think they are young.

Kudos to Akshay for making movies such as this. He is helping to improve and modernize the Indian mindset.
