Talking about Batti Gul Meter Chalu, the film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and also stars Shraddha Kapoor opposite Shahid. In the film, Shahid will be seen playing the role of a lawyer and it is set to hit the screens in the month of August this year.
Earlier, Shahid Kapoor said in an interview, "Shree Narayan Singh, in Toilet Ek Prem Katha, talked about issues women faced with open defecation. Now he has chosen the electricity issue which will make the film very relatable to the common man."
"The story is based in Uttarakhand so I will be using a certain accent and dialect for the film. After playing a King, I will be seen as a small city lawyer," he added.
The film has been at the centre of controversies for long. First of all, the film’s shooting was stalled in April when producer Prernaa Arora allegedly failed to pay wages to the crew. Later, filmmaker Bhushan Kumar took the film under his wings and the shooting resumed.
