Dekho, dekho, woh wapas aa gaya. Prem, wapas aa gaya...Yes, superstar Salman Khan is back in his most loved avatar - Prem - and he is bang on! In the last two films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and now, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman has proved that he knows best what commercial entertainers are all about. They brighten our festivals, spread joy and make for the most delectable family outings and sometimes without breaking bones or cars.

With Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, he is nothing like Chulbul Pandey of Dabangg, he is nothing like Lovely Singh of Bodyguard, he is not Kick's Devil and neither is he Zoya's Tiger from Ek Tha Tiger. He is all heart and all Prem and Barjatya has left no stone unturned to ensure that he makes his favourite actor and favourite character return in style.

To many, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo might sound and seem dated. But Sooraj Barjatya knows how to use long lost values as a strength in his movies. It is a quaint treat for those who have forgotten what family entertainers are all about. PRDP, with nearly three hours' staggering runtime and songs-every-10-minutes, can often be taxing but Salman laces it with an irreverent charisma, and makes it completely different from anything he has done in the recent past.

To those who've tried playing double roles in films in recent years, take a tip from the superstar. Afterall, that's one thing experience teaches you : how to be creative with your roles. Salman, in his twin characters, is starkly different. One, the affable Prem Dilwale (don't miss the irony of the name!) and other, the crown prince of Pritampur - Vijay. The former wears a dhoti and dances in Ramlilas, the other is a fencing expert and speaks fluent French while he reaches out for his champagne. When a mishap makes the crown prince invalid, the other steps in to fill in his spot. In one scene, while Prem is still getting a hang of Vijay's mannerisms, in a matter of seconds Salman shifts his demeanour effortlessly from playing Vijay to being Prem. There are two such striking scenes in the film in which the actor shines. It is so refreshing to see him add variety to his roles, after years of being accused of sleepwalking through characters.

Kudos to Bhai for making some bold choices this year - from underplaying the vulnerable Pawan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan to being the epitome of an 'ideal man' as Prem in this one.

But as a standalone film, PRDP's story is as predictable as it gets, often silly, but Salman never lets these negatives play a spoilsport. The most disappointing thing about it, however, is Sonam Kapoor and her complete lack of chemistry with Salman. She is extremely superficial as Maithli. Though, we give it to her that she has the look and mien of a gorgeous princess, but that's about it. A large part of the film drags because the two can't show any onscreen magic. As the duo totter between songs, it is visible that they fail at recreating the Rajshri romance alike Salman-Madhuri or for that matter even Shahid and Amrita.

Another mistake Barjatya makes, is that never dives headlong into describing the root cause of the terse family relations. The fair amount of flashbacks don't quite feel real and the patch-ups are over-simplistic. A lot of actors in the film also go unused. Neil Nitin Mukesh and Swara Bhaskar are forgettable in their underwritten parts. Armaan Kohli is menacing but hardly has a presence. Amongst the supporting cast, it is Anupam Kher as Diwan who is first-rate. His camaraderie with Prem and his love and loyalty for Vijay, is something to relish.

A die-hard Salman fan can vouch for the fact that a Salman Khan film is all about Salman. In this film that is not the case. You can hardly find any glimpses of his swag-filled charm. For the love of Sooraj, Salman is clearly the most sincere he has been in a long time. He holds together the loose plot and makes the movie a delight to watch. It is not everyday you find a story that attempts to reinstate family values. Barjatya's simplicity is the film's biggest strength and that he puts forward in the garb of ornate frames and beautiful palaces. The story is as simple as it has always been .... it's all about loving your family.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo makes for a sparkling watch this Diwali. Fall for the grandeur, reconnect with values and try not to seek much of a story. Though we must warn you that sitting through a three-hour long film can be daunting in times of web-series and short films. But that's what Barjatya is all about. Take some time out of your busy schedules to return to a bygone era, of simpler things, family films and Prem - who is waiting for you with his arms open.

Komal Nahta review:

Salman Khan looks like a million bucks in both the roles and acts like he has rarely acted before. The honesty and integrity on his face add so much to the two characters that they force the audience to believe in the drama. To say that he is extraordinary in emotional scenes would not be an exaggeration. His look with fondness when he, as Prem Dilwala, is bidding goodbye to Maithili from the car’s front seat is to die for. In the light scenes, he is just too endearing. All in all, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he carries the film on his shoulders.

Sonam Kapoor looks glamorous and acts well. She is especially good in the emotional scene in which she overhears the conversation between Vijay Singh and Prem Dilwala.

Neil Nitin Mukesh does an ordinary job and doesn’t really add much to the character of Ajay Singh with his performance. Swara Bhaskar is first-rate, making every scene of hers truly good. Anupam Kher lives the role of the loyal royal diwan. He is very nice. Deepak Dobriyal is cute and has his moments. Aashika Bhatia makes her presence felt as Vijay Singh’s younger step-sister, Radhika. Deepraj Rana is dignified and efficient as the palace security chief. Armaan Kohli is average as the CEO of Vijay Singh and the scheming friend of Ajay Singh. His villainy doesn’t have the venom it needed to have. Samaira Rao, as Vijay Singh’s secretary, is alright.

Suhasini Mulay leaves a mark in a very brief role in special appearance. Sameer Dharmadhikari is okay in a special appearance. Lata Saberwal Seth (as Chandrika’s mother), Karuna Pandey (as Maharani), Brijendra Kala, Vishwa Badola, Mukesh Bhatt (as Chhuttan), Gurpal Singh (as Sardarji), Sucheta Khanna (as Sardarni), S.M. Zaheer (as doctor), Mickey Makhija (as the second doctor), master Dhruv Vinay Kumar (as young Vijay Singh), master Darsheel Vinay Kumar (as young Ajay Singh), baby Miraya Suri (as young Chandrika) and baby Hridaan V. Surana (as young Radhika) lend able support.

Munni's dialogues in BB were better than Sonam's acting...

The most riddiculous and stupid movie! I am SO dissapointed. This was not what I was expecting from Sooraj Barjatya. I still remember watching movies as Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum aapke hain kon, as a young kid. There was romance, emotions and traditional values. This movies had this but shown in a riddiculous way. So thumbs down from me. Only plus was Sonam Kapoors look in this movie.

Please don't even bring Deepika into it people . Sonum can get cast in a 500 crore film with any superstar . It still doesn't make her any good in acting and still there will be no directors lining up in front of her bunglow. We accept that Salman felt the need to give a nudge to her not-going-anywhere-but-to-fashionshows career and thats all there is to it. PV please post.

Sooraj Barjatya has tried hard to recreate his magic but is lost trying to fit them to today's times... like the kitchen scene, garden terrace scene and football scenes leave one feeling embarrassed rather than emotional. Sonam is shown as this today's indian princess running her own garment line in Delhi, traveling in helicopters and attending to victims and yet made to forcefully adapt to be a rajshri heroine by acting dumb, demure, coy and giggling... SB should just halt his career with this last dud before the audience shows him the door and even his finest craft up to date is forgotten.

Saw it, loved it, haters gonna hate, what can you do.

I can almost guarantee that this would have definitely been a hit if ANYONE other than SONAM KAPOOR was in it. This woman should just give up. She's completely useless and cannot act to save her life.

PAISA VASOOL PERFORMANCE OF SONAM KAPOOR!!!

Will download soon.

The 68 crores or 100 or 150 crores this movie will make is because people have booked tickets in advance.
Wish I had not booked mine and contributed my 350 rupees to this.

here is why your statement is a complete lie, if you really cared about reviews why would you have purchased your ticked in advance? If you care so much about reviews might as well watch a movie a week later.

I don't care about reviews and I have hardly watched any movies this year. Even after bad reviews, I still want to watch Bombay Velvet to decide for myself if the movie is good or bad. I didn't go for Salman or Sonam. Went for Sooraj Barjatya and that's why feel let down that I ended up contributing as well to the collections. I didn't comment on Sonam or Salman in this post either. Commented on direction, script and other stuff. What I am trying to say is the movie will make its money anyway and will be declared a hit / blockbuster. The question to ask is whether hit means box office records.

What? Salman should stop fooling people by overhyping the film while promotions, maybe then nobody would have purchased the tickets in advance...

#1 Post.

Times of India review:

Salman performs with superb finesse, skillfully creating a caviar-chole bhature cinematic contrast. His Vijay is tense, terse and taut, radiating machismo but no gentleness, loneliness with king-sized ego. His Prem is luminous with life, cheekily cheery - teasing Diwanji as 'virgin Bapu' - then deepening, like sugar stirred into kheer, in silent gazes of hesitant love. The acting is ace - this year is Salman's finest yet in cinematic grace.

Sonam carries off her princess beautifully, a stylish cross between Gayatri Devi and Coco Chanel, conveying a girl wrapped in delicate chiffon, but with a free, passionate soul. Deepak Dobriyal delights as Prem's dost Kanhaiya, Armaan works a violent swagger well while Neil sulks as a sour prince whose gimlet has way too much lime. Playing bitter sisters, Swara and Aashika have one of the film's sweetest moments - with a brother who stops being a royal pain.

Ahh... Paid media. Where would we get our entertainment from without you

Salman is so over the top and Sonam is wooden..

I feel Amrita Rao would've been better suited for the role

This movie was below my expectations. However, I thought it was a good family movie. Salman's fans will love him in this movie because he acted and looked very charming! I thought the movie was too long. But I know I will definitely enjoy it more when I will watch it on my laptop again!

What the hell did I just watch!

Disaster

Sonam Kapoor career will end with this movie. She looked and acted terrible. She was styled very badly. She is playing a princess but the clothes and "OTT" makeup made her look very old, and she did not look fresh. Her dancing skills were not impressive. All the other casts were overacting and TERRIBLE. Sooraj should have retired with Main Prem ki deewani hoon crap. Salman looked very charming and young. He gave it his all but that was not enough to save this dull movie. AVOID!

FilmFare Review:

Logic has never had a great part to play in Salman Khan movies. And as usual the superstar brings his characteristic charm in abundance to make PRDP an entertaining film. His usual brand of silly humour, quirky dancing and muscle flexing action are all there. Yet, Salman is not the hero of PRDP, at least not the way Salman films turn out. He's not the only reason you'd want to watch the film. That title, without doubt rests with Sooraj Barjatya and his efforts in making PRDP. The director and his vision rule supreme. That allows Sonam Kapoor to dazzle in a meaty role. She definitely looks like royalty and her performance of a love lorn princess adds a nice touch to the proceedings of PRDP. Anupam Kher, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar and Armaan Kohli pitch in with decent performances. But Neil Nitin Mukesh is left at the mercy of some horrendous dialogues. Some of his lines are embarrassing.

Despite its flaws, PRDP manages to entertain you. It's long yes, and most of its story is almost too sentimental. But then it works, especially if you like family dramas with a dash of style and humour. This is definitely worth a watch.

Obviously because Jitesh Pillai editor of Filmfare and Sonam are bestieeeeeeeeees!

Filmfare review: Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is proof that no one else can make a film like Sooraj Barjatya. His films may not have the best story ever told, but they definitely have the right allure and trappings to satisfy the quintessential Indian family. Indians watch their films as families, that's a fact Salman Khan swears by as well, and no one caters to that sensibility like Sooraj Barjatya. With PRDP, he's back in top form. It's just that his skills on the editing table have turned a bit rusty.

Just shy of 3 hours, PRDP is long and at times arduous. Not that the story doesn't hold attention, the film keeps you engaged all through, but right through it's 174-minute runtime, PRDP has at least a dozen scenes that were simply too long or not needed at all. You could argue that films with 8-9 full length songs are an editor's nightmare, but PRDP largely benefits from it's songs. Jab tum chaho is the stand out number and almost all the other songs are pleasant enough to add to the overall audience experience.

PRDP is like an opulent Indianised package of the Prince and Pauper tale. Like Sonam Kapoor's Khoobsurat, it takes on an exclusive ride in to the world of Indian royalty. You have the sights and sounds of palaces and luxury beyond imagination. And the story of two Salman Khans is woven into these exotic and impressive visuals. That is the strength of PRDP. It looks like an expensive production and the visuals are a pure delight to watch on a big screen.

Just for entertainment sakes even - watch KRK's review of PRDP! It is LOL funny and spot on!

Filmbeat: Sonam did a lot of overacting! She is a damn gorgeous actress but when it came to acting there was a lot of overacting which hampered Salman's presence sometimes.

Ndtv: Salman gives this weightless film an occasional push and a shove in the right direction, but Sonam drags it back with an unconvincing performance. Gawky, giggly and gloriously gooey, she is completely out of her depth here.

Talking Movies : Sonam Kapoor fails to stand onto the mammoth expectations of a Rajshri Heroine.

Komboi : What’s Bad: The film is flooded with songs and unfortunately they are not great fun to watch. Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Rajshri’ girl act fails too.
Sonam Kapoor seems a complete misfit for the role. It would be a crime comparing her to any other Rajshri actress. She lacks the charm that the character needs and well, her emotional dialogue delivery turns out a complete mess.

The indian express : in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo’ nothing belongs, nothing is a fit. And Ms Sonam Kapoor is lissome and quite lovely, but her slim derriere is no match for Ms Madhuri Dixit’s saucy, jutting butt in ‘HAHK’: nope, nothing in ‘PRDP’ for us, in the India of 2015.

Hindustan times: Our Miss goody two-shoes runs an NGO, eats at not-so-classy restaurants and wears matching clothes. And yes, she sometimes likes to flaunt her little black dress for some ‘quality time’ with her fiancé.
Prem ratan dhan payo movie is Beautiful yet average.

MehraAmod : Sonam seems to have lost it ! On camera she admits that she loves working with Salman in #PRDP as he ‘smells very good’.. Yuck!! Whatever!!
Sonam seems to have lost it ! On camera she admits that she loves working with Salman in #PRDP as he ‘smells very good’.. Yuck!! Whatever!!

Bollywood boxoffice : Barjatya could not deliver another HAHK or HSSH this time. #PRDP fails to match the level of those 2 films, sadly.
Music is average, and so is the supporting cast I think. Sonam Kapoor is a terrible actress, damn sure about that ! #PRDP

Glamsham : PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO is like a well wrapped sweet box with cheap halwa inside.
Out of frustration, during one scene when Sonam runs into a dance, a group from the audience shout: ''Washing powder Nirma!''
Sonam has wasted yet another opportunity to show her prowess as an actress of repute.

Reddif : Sonam Kapoor is luminous in Anamika Khanna's dreamy creations, looks appropriately besotted by her hero and shows noticeable restraint in her dialogue delivery, her Maithali is so blandly written, it makes Bhagyashree's Suman look like a vixen.

bravo!!!

finally a movie i can watch with my family....cheesy sure but family oriented. these its hard to find a bollywood movie to watch with families.

Because of this film I learned the word - wahayyat from KKR.He says if the clothes were hanged on a hanger it would have acted better than Sonum . Ouchh

Numero Uno post. Woot Woot!

For the love of Salman and his wonderful performance, too bad Sonam put a hudge damper on this movie.

Watched the film and honestly it had it's pleasant moments but overall too many bad scenes, the second half really fell apart. As far as Sonam goes I have to admit for someone who has never liked her she did well for most of the movie until she ruined it all with that really badly performed scene at the end where she cries. She really needs to work on her acting scenes during emotional moments

Sonam ruined khoobsurat (even fawad khan couldnt save her from her non existent acting skills) and now she ruined what could have been a great movie.

no chemistry between her and salman and her fake voice and manly presence was the reason it was the biggest waste of 3 hours.

Review from First POST:

There is a scene in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, where at it’s most romantic moment, Rajkumari Maithili (Sonam Kapoor) gives Prem Dilwala (Salman Khan) a huge, white feather pen and asks him to write on her back. She goes on to shut all the doors of the large palatial kitchen, signaling her surrender to Prem. As she expresses her love with a Himesh Reshammiya composed song, Prem looks touched, shy, loving and reluctant all at once.
It’s the classic Barjatya romance, full of the nineties’ sensuality and moral, virginal men and women. The kitchen or a terrace is the romantic playground.

"The acts are well pulled of by Khan with his usual playful balancing; Mukesh charms with his sizzling screen presence and Bhaskar is entertaining in her heartwarming portrayal. Sonam Kapoor is sweet and adequate as the innocent princess but has little to do. The Indian regal costumes in cold pastels, don’t do her slim frame, much justice. She and Khan make an interesting and pleasant pair, even at their subdued best—feathers et al. Not surprisingly, this Barjatya film is as nice, predictable, old fashioned and sweet as a Diwali laddoo. Full of emotionally engaging, PG-rated Prem leela."

PRDP has not only broken the first day collections of happy new year but has also surpassed the best ever single day of BB

Opening day for PRDP was 40.35 Crores, making it the biggest debut for a film this year but it has not crossed the record set by HAPPY NEW YEAR last year in the same time period which did 44.97 Crores on Day 1. #FACTS

Thats hurting D fans

Sonam pr needs to chill out and stop writing lengthy explanation for the film and about sonams acting!! This film has nothing great just like a indian tv serial and sonam CAN NOT ACT. Period

I love Deepika. And I was never a fan of Sonam. But I must say, PRDP was amazing! Salman did really well and Sonam has definitely improved. She looks beautiful. A little honesty would be much appreciated in this forum. There's no need to hate. Also, PRDP may be a little "cheesy" for this time but I was glad I watched a movie that was a bit different than the movies that come out these days. Btw, AWESOME music!

Thank you for your honesty! You rock!

sonakshi would have been a better choice...chemistry with salman and sonakshi is perfect.

I watched PRDP & I must say SB needs to take a bow for making a really great entertainer! Perfect it is not, but it is really well done! the introduction of salman as Prem & sonam as Maithili were incredibly well done.

Salman Khan owns the frame, be it as Prem or as Vijay. He is a revelation in this movie. & the one to beat @ this year´s filmfare. Outstanding! Vijay & Prem, opposite personalities & sensibilities, both well portrayed in distinctive manners & the result is spellbinding!

Sonam Kapoor. Perfect as the Rajkumari, struggling with her doubts about her larger than life King. Graceful, innocent I totally see why so many people say this is her best work! The control over her performance, her voice, diction! Outstanding. Zoya from R wins only because she is a better fleshed out character. Maithili was like this angel present in the movie, evnif her real entrance happens later!

SalNam is THE jodi of the year, they play off each other well, Jalte Diye is the most beautiful love declaration seen in a very long time!

Deepak Dobriyal & Anupam Kher are the most accomplished actors on screen, they were marvellous, yet salman Khan more than held his own with them. Swara Bhaskar´s pain as the sister was felt, she is a tremendous actor! The misfit was Armann Kohli as the villain, he was not right for the role. & Neil was totally overshadowed by salman in their scenes together.

All in all, the team has good reason to be proud, the work was incredible. SB needed to flesh his characters better out, as he only fiocused on Prem/Viay & the royal family to a certain extent.

But I guess it is okay since the movie is actually a fairytale set in modern world & Prem is that ideal man who falls in love with the fairy-like Princess. Vijay singh is the man for me, salman Khan was just too hot playing him, he was oozing power & refinement in it, yet his Prem was more than amazing also in his simplicity!

Kamaal R Khan's review of PRDP is more entertaining than the lousy film itself. Sonam truly is the queen of flops and non acting.

Trolls ned to quit, you didn´t watch the movie, otherwise you wouldn´t be spewing this. Sonam WAS Maithili, her whole demeanor delivery attittude! It was perfection. Anyone saying anything else is full of it, iam sorry.

I just saw Kamaal R Khan's review of the movie. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I agreed with most of it. Cracked me up.

"Salman Khan saunters onto the screen, pretends to emote, and then bursts into song and dance. Sonam Kapoor is particularly grating – more than ten minutes of her on screen and you might want to look away. Right from Kapoor’s attempts to appear subdued and coy, to the fake waterfall gushing under the palace, “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” is a spectacle that rings hollow. This is not the Diwali gift you were waiting for."

I've always felt that Asin was ideal for this kind of project. Sonam is a total miscast.

Sonam is horrible n so fake.. This movie sucks.

Why is a movie in Bollywood rated by the actor and not script? And famous over talent. Pls learn from Hollywood/ Cannes Films. The story makes the movie first and then comes the actor. This is not about making movies but making money and fame. Sad that this is also Bollywood because there are good scripts/ directors/actors like Lunchbox, Masaan etc and they deserve more than this!!

Well actually this is very sad. Sometimes all they do is add a Khan into their cast or vulgar item songs. Then they start doing crappy publicly for the movie. And they forget about the rest :) Gone are the days when creativity plays the priority, although I must say that there are still some meaninful BW movies (which are never hugeee hits)

Can't imagine anyone else playing the maharani in @prdp...Sonam Looked beautiful & was adorable...@sonamakapoor

Tradition as important as Modernity. Family a great source of happiness. Loved watching #PremRatanDhanPayo...@BeingSalmanKhan @sonamakapoor

go pose in a dress or something sonam! all lost cuz of sonam!! sallu got wasted.. he didnt charge for this flick anyways.. so no harm done to him except for a big shock for producer!

yes 68 crores in 2 days, of course a big shock for you !

Of course Sonam and Salman have no chemistry in the movie. It was obvious from the trailers and songs. IDK how someone could pay money to watch this. I mean Sonam, Armaan Kohli, Neil Nitin Mukhesh. And if that weren't enough...Himesh Reshamiya?! The songs are straight outta 80s tackfest movies. That's like paying for voluntary torture.

But u paid money to watch Jthj , hny and possibly diwale. .give me a break

Nope, didn't pay money to watch any of the crap.

Wasn't it obvious that this movie will be a crapfest??? Salman's films are as illogical as his charity.

Lesson learnt! Never watch Bhai's films!

Salman please get enrolled into an acting school. More than Sonam, you need it. What a torture on our senses. Watching this movie was worse than experiencing a third degree torture by cops.

Maybe Sonam's acting was not good, but c'mon people, Salman's acting was even much worse.. Why just target her? I am Deepika fan and I think just because Salman is a man, he should not be spared and the blame should not be completely focused on a woman...

People were laughing at Sonam's HORRIBLE acting. Can't believe the director accepted this.

Since when do Salman fans need to wait for reviews to watch his movie ???? The King is here to Rule here His British fans Wishing him all the best.

What a Beautiful Movie PRDP Sonam looks beautiful throughout the movie ,she looks good with Salman Khan and does her romantic scenes very well

Har film me kuch na kuch problems hoti hai, khusnaseeb hai wo log jinko PRDP jaisi khubsurat film family ke sath dekhne ko milti hai #PRDPDay

Don't be so mean to Sallu uncle! At this age, he might get a heart attack reading the reviews!

The uncle is there where you can never be. Amen!

silly, cheeesy and regressive movie! time and money wastage .salman.i want my money back..grrrrrrr!!!

Sonam was looking stunning in every frame, she did a great job, she is a treat to watch. And if some ppl think chemistry could've been better then u should blame salman who was behaving like sonam's chaacha even during promotions bcoz she is his friend's daughter. Anyway i luved the film & i m so happy for the aphrodite sonam. she deserves all the success & happiness. Haters who are fuming with anger shows how frustrated they are at her success, Get well soon guys :)

(pv plz post)

Sonam's lack of chemistry and superficial acting was obvious from the trailer and song promos itself. It was evident that Salman was overcompensating by calling Sonam better than Madhuri and all that. Though I do have to say when you refer to Salman as Bhai in the review it takes away from your credibility when you review his acting skills.

lol

No thanks. No well written female roles = I'm boycotting. This film is for those obsessed Salman fans.

I laughed uncontrollably at this dialogue - " Is baar tum shikaayat likhna meri PEETH pe." That was absolutely hillarious. For some odd reason, I kept remembering the movie 'Drona' while watching this movie. Maybe it was the poor graphics.

Neil Nitin Mukesh's only dialogues were - calling that lady and asking 'Samira tum kya kar rahi ho? and then calling Armaan - tum kya kar rahe ho. Thats it.

Suddenly showing sheesh mahal and the flashback about mother, stepmother, father - what bad script, screenplay and direction. Even the emotions between sisters and brother were not dealt with properly. Salman says I'll give you all the wealth and Swara has a change of heart. Hum Saath Saath hain was a better movie about family values. Our Hindi soap operas are better. The tv actors can act better.

Salman said this movie will make us cry more than Bajrangi Bhaijaan did. I was laughing at the crap this movie was. It felt like watching a fairy tale movie...where there is a castle and a common man is fighting for the princess with the villain. The graphics were so bad.

This movie was bad. Feel let down by Sooraj Barjatya. They should have instead played Hum Saath Saath Hain or Hum Aapke Hain Koun on 70mm again.

the film is v boring almost like jai ho. sonam kapoor is good in the movie, much better than salman who has overacted in almost all scenes

Exactly, Salman was much worse than Sonam.

Sonam stick to giving fashion tips , films are not for you . Wasting screen space and time , some other better actress deserves it

First day collections are always good , its from second day on when reviews and WOM kick in . Shaandaar had a superb opening day but what happened later? Lets see if audience still appreciates 3 hour soap opera kind of movies

I knew the film will face a blow when they cast Sonam Kapoor , she cant act man! Everyone knows that . Sonakshi or Asin would have been much better, they can act

I meant it for the Sallu-Sonam fans...lol They are so worried because their faves are absolutely talentless...lol

According to the reviewer Sonam is extremely superficial as Maithli. But again, isn't Sonam superficial too? Salman already said she is playing herself. So no surprises there. I'm so waiting for Raja Sen dissect this shit!!!

you agian:)the biggest fan of sonam!!glad to see you again about sonam,,you are a true fan of our princess maitheli:)

Did you forget to login? You seem to be having a field day defending bimbo kapoor's disastrous performance :D

Why r u so worked up?...lol

Thanks PV for not giving more than 60, actually it is way below it.

Sonam is verybad n young choice here, if not Aishwarya, they Should've casted kashmiri Katrina or even Bengali Bipasha in Traditional Clothes would've looked 100 times better Princess opposite Salman, but it was not even close to Bajrangi Bhaijaans knees

Salman and Sonam can't act, PERIOD.

To be fair, Salman is a good actor when he wants to be, he was the soul of the movie and he was excellent, the problem is the daughter of anil kapoor

Salman can't act too.

To be honest, Salman was worse than Sonam (who was bad ofcourse)..

To be honest, Salman was worse than Sonam (who was bad ofcourse)..

PV please post the truth: Some of the reviews I just read and as expected they honestly point out what the majority of us already know - Sonam Kapoor is a terrible, horribly inept actress and is one of the worst things that nepotism has brought upon Bollywood. Maybe the day is not far where she will go the Uday Chopra, Fardeen Khan et al way i.e. go into oblivion or at least exit acting.

Koimoi: What’s Bad: Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Rajshri’ girl act fails too. Sonam Kapoor seems a complete misfit for the role. It would be a crime comparing her to any other Rajshri actress. She lacks the charm that the character needs and well, her emotional dialogue delivery turns out a complete mess.

NDTV: ...had Salman Khan been a given a more naturally gifted female co-star than Sonam, PRDP might have been an infinitely better film despite the vapidity of the script. Salman gives this weightless film an occasional push and a shove in the right direction, but Sonam drags it back with an unconvincing performance. Gawky, giggly and gloriously gooey, she is completely out of her depth here.

Yes, it is expectd that all reviews will not like it or praise the ators in it. Doesn´t mean one has to be selective & based on those reviews make outrageous claim like you clearly want to make here. For the reviws you post i will find equally btter one to post so what is your point?

DNA: The film is a one-man-show – Salman Khan is almost in every frame of the film in both the roles. As the prince, he remains firm, dignified and regal. As Prem, he is more endearing, funny and down-to-earth. Somehow, he always reserves his best for Sooraj and PRDP is no different. Sonam Kapoor looks like a princess and adds a lot of dignity to her character. Anupam Kher is remarkably restrained and effective.

Taran Ardash: Sonam Kapoor is earnest. She looks stunning, but more importantly, she carries her part effortlessly. Initially, her pairing opposite Salman did raise eyebrows, but when you watch the goings-on, you realise that Salman and Sonam do make a lovely on-screen couple.

It's irritates me that someone use hater word to just defend his/her fave by fact lets face it no one is hater as much bollyfanluver , attacks personaly on others and than You likes to denfend your so called model aka actress sonam that shows from damage controling in comment sactions , still reality won't changes that she can't act and go read reviews of others you will get to see complete reality , but i guss normal ppl can see the realities not blind obsessed once lol. By the way tran adarsh is not critic like you don't accept pv an crtic. Post
..

Too bad we can´t post youtuube links anymore. The aam janta is not agreeing with you. & for you to get mad because i posted positive reviews tells me all i need to know about you.

& sorry dear hater, I will call you a hater because there are other movies she proved herself already. But then it takes unbiased readers to acknowledge that. Since you can´t, a hater you are! :-)

Hit only because of Salman Khan , Sonam brings nothing to the movie , no starpower or acting skills

Wow PVT, you have given the same 60% rating you gave JAZBAA to this film as well.

Yes, PRDP is way below 50%...

Sonam is such a pain to watch and no, Im not a biased Deepika fan . Just being honest

It's time for Sonam and Katrina to quit BW... and make way for people with a hell of a lot more talent. I'd rather see Rani, Preity, Kajol back or even give actresses like Amrita Rao another chance than watch SK/KK and the like.

Sonam is amazing in the film,I luv her to the moon

Sonam couldnt even get this one right . Lol

When Deepika walks out of a movie , it's not worth it. Dhoom3 , Kick , Roy , Shaandar and now PRDP :))

since when deepika offered shaandaar . it was alia from the start . shahid requested her only to do a movie with him

SORRY. But Sonam cannot ACT. Yes she can look pretty and can carry herself well but she cannot ACT. And one or two...let's be generous, five flimsy nice comments which talk about everything EXCEPT good acting skills is not enough to convince anyone that she is talented. I'm sorry but it's just not going to happen.

This film should get the Golden Kela Film Award for 2015 and Sonam should get the Golden Kela Life time award. That is how bad Sonam's acting is and that is how lousy this film is. I wonder how this outdated script got produced and made. And was Sonam bragging about herself for this role and movie???? Shows her intellectualism and sense of films.

For those who are telling that the story is outdated, we all love our parents, brothers and sisters, that will never ever be outdated.

"The most disappointing thing about it, however, is Sonam Kapoor and her complete lack of chemistry with Salman." -- oops Sonam, I thought you would at LEAST nail this. Time to bag another golden kela ;) Anyways, I am sure the movie will be a huge hit.

:-)

Don´t rejoice too early. There are many mixed reviews not all are negative enough to justify the Golden Kela yet!

Yeah? lol. Ok.

When Sooraj cast Sonam, that very moment I knew the film will be a flop. She does not have what it takes to be a heroine, a diva or fashionista perhaps but not a heroine.

"The most disappointing thing about it, however, is Sonam Kapoor and her complete lack of chemistry with Salman. She is extremely superficial as Maithli. Though, we give it to her that she has the look and mien of a gorgeous princess, but that's about it. A large part of the film drags because the two can't show any onscreen magic. As the duo totter between songs, it is visible that they fail at recreating the Rajshri romance alike Salman-Madhuri or for that matter even Shahid and Amrita" Lol bollyfanluver what do you have say about negative reviews which prem ratan dhan payo movie got all doe to miss fashionista's oscar level acting skills and i wonder sge used deepika as marketing strategy and blemed poor girl (blind iteam ) about her average performance which probably udiances didn't like in promos and songs of prem ratan dhan payo, now what she have to say about her perfomance which all over got negative and average reviews, may belm deepika again for poor performance of her!!!!!!

I have to say i can find more positive reviews than the one you posted my dear hater. I will post a mixed one just to make you happy though. for now.

India Today: "As both Prem and Vijay, Salman Khan does a commendable job. He mostly tries to not be Salman Khan, and is immensely enjoyable when he does not do so. Just the fact that the theatre erupted in claps, wolf-whistles and shouts every time Salman entered the screen is a reminder of the superstar's popularity. However, while Salman nails his role as the happy-go-lucky Prem Dilwala, his dialogues as Vijay seem to miss a note. Sonam plays her coy-at-times, confident-at-others Maithili with lan. There are times her acting comes across as a bit forced, though."

Thing is, sonam Kapoor gets mixed reviews for her roles. There is how it should be. She gets abnotehr movie to improve herself, simple as that. That is what acting is about. But whenever some try to pretend like it is only negatives, fans like me will stp it up & prove you guys wrong. :-)

Why so biased for "SALMAN BHAI"??? This film has Sonsm Kapoor who hardly can deliver a dialogue . She is undoubtedly fashionista bt she looks good only on Ramp and film festivals. Please stop being biased for so called BHAI

The movie will make crores as expected and Sonum wouldn't need anything more to below her trumpet. Most reviews say she doesn't shine or add anything to it. I stopped liking Bharjatya movies from HSSH. So, don't care

Pinkvilla team is so damn biased against Salman Khan movies, they gave 60% to Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which is basically the best movie to come out this year, and then they give 60% to Jazbaa. Although i never watch movies based on reviews, how can someone else tell you what is good and what isn't you have your own mind to decide that, but for those who do , food for thought.

They also gave 80% to Bombay Velvet. LOL

60??? It deserves not even 10!

Sonam cant act she should learn how to act from rani.go and learn how to act from rani first!

Oh please, Rani can't act... Her most overrated performance in Black was caricaturish and much inferior to Sarika's national award winning performance in Parzania... Sonam overshadowed her in Saawariya...

Sorry, that? I just read? Rani can not act, you're serious? I sleep and I dream a bad dream. Rani, Rani Mukerji ??? OOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHOCK

they are nuts . dont read any more of that .rani is overacting lol . the rani mukerjee has an other name as the acting defeinition

Sarika hardly had any screen space in Parzania. Not sure what the heck they gave her the award for!

Sarika deserved the award for the subtle nuances in her performance, unlike Rani's overacting...

Sarika deserved the award for the subtle nuances in her performance, unlike Rani's overacting...

What??? Every critic and audience agreed Sarika was the scene stealer in the film, with the subtle nuances in her performance... Just because it is regional film, it doesn't mean she had any less presence... A critic slammed Rani's performance as a immature mimicry of Charlie Chaplin...

While Sooraj Barjatya scores in the romantic and emotional moments, it is in the action scenes, a new territory for him, where he falters a bit. Also, the villain track is a bit weak and could have been better and more menacing. The villains didn't really have the chance to show their most evil side which might be a conscious decision by Sooraj Barjatya since he was making a family friendly film.

As expected, Salman Khan rocks and delivers yet another outstanding and a very adorable performance. He raises lot of laughs and also impresses as he essays the bade dilwala Prem with utmost sincerity. Also, he does great as Vijay. First Bajrangi Bhaijaan and now Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman Khan has really won hearts in these 2 landmark films of his career! Great going!

Sonam Kapoor looks stunning and this is easily one of her finest or maybe the finest performance! Watch out how she shows her nakhra in Jab Tum Chaho' or during and before the song Jalte Diye'. There's a tremendous growth in her as an actor and we hope she gives many more such great performances!

Anupam Kher is damn good and gives a restrained as well as a funny performance! Neil Nitin Mukesh (Ajay) looks dashing and scores big time in some scenes. Armaan Kohli (Chirag) with his baritone voice, physique and personality is ideal for the role and he does fine. Swara Bhaskar (Chandrika/Chanda) is a powerhouse of talent while Aashika Bhatia too leaves a mark. Deepraj Rana (Sanjay) has a great character and he does total justice to it. Deepak Dobriyal (Kanhaiya) provide much more than just comic relief. Samaira Rao (Samira) is alright. Sanjay Mishra is funny. Others are good. Fenil & Bollywood Review

Didn't get any credible critic praising Sonam, so had to write a review yourself!! And even a Sonam hater like me would not demean her by saying this is her finest performance. It is clearly Raanjanah.

Lol, you really think i wrote this? Anyway, twitter & more are full of enough praise, anyone who is not biased against Sonam would not pretend like the people i see here. I shall post th rightfull critics as i i find them along the way.

Honestly Mr Sooraj R. Barjatya fails this time.....he has sunk the ship here....he wrote an outdated story...and forgot abt screenplay......family values being forced on the viewers....film has zero content and horrible music barring the title track....film is long and overstretched...Sonam's acting will give complex to plastic's & furniture's....

Salman does his best to carry the film.....but the outdated bad dialogues and screenplay keep him in check....Anupam Kher is new ham king here....he has taken too many liberties with his expression.....

Salman makes this film a bit bearable....but as time passes...u start looking for the meaning for why u sat for 3 hrs.....

I love how Sonam and Katrina are consistent in their non acting and expressionless performances. These two woman should be given the golden kela award for not improving after a decade of being in films. Shame on these people who cannot act but are ready to give gyaan and spill jealousy on others who are hard working and talented. PRDP is a terrible film.

You didn´t watch it, yet you have a lot to say. A dpad fan is so easily spotted these days! .

Audience review:
"Sonam Kapoor plays her part to perfection as Maithili and Anupam Kher inspires awe as he plays the quintessential wise old man..."

"That Guy 41m41 minutes ago
.@sonamakapoor looks gorgeous in every frame. She plays a confident, emotional Princess"

"Aman K 47m47 minutes ago
Prem ratan dhan payo watched!
sonamakapoor ab tum pehle jaisi Nahi rahi u were excellent loved the mod rajshri heroine veryyyy well done"

"Lokesh Dongarwar 49m49 minutes ago
@@BeingSalmanKhan sonamakapoor lovely movie....amazing performance by all...ATBB..."

"Kiyaara Chauhan 50m50 minutes ago
Now I Know Why Sooraj Sir's forever Choice for Maithili were you,Cause he Knew no one could Have done it the way u have @SonamKapoor Mam"

DNA "Before the movie was about to release, a section of media was abuzz with stories about how Sonam's a total misfit for the film. But we were adamant! Right from the trailer to the promos, Sonam looked every bit the Rajshri heroine and when you see the actress playing Maithili on screen, your faith in her is reinstated. She perfects the nuances of the typical Rajshri heroine with so much elegance, grace and effortlessness that you fall in love with her. Truly, her brilliant stint also makes you feel at the end, that no other heroine from her age bracket could have played the princess better than her. "

& those are just a few!

Why r u so worked up?...lol

A dpad fan is so easily spotted these days! LOL so true and bringing katrina here which is not related

a kat fan is so easily spotted to these days. lol bringing deepika here which is not related

You can't blame all people who do not like this movie and you know that you selected the very few tweets made by Sonam lovers. Open your eyes and accept that the public in general is criticizing Sonam's very very bad performance.

I watched the film and what makes you think that everyone who dislikes PRDP did not watch it or is a Deepika fan? Shows you are as air-headed as your fav Sonam. Wait for a week and you'll see that this film is another Bombay Velvet.

Love the concept ......hated the movie!! Dear Directors, Can someone make a movie on this idea in a much much better way??? I will pay anything to watch it!! We need the good old days minus all the regressive bull......

Just saw the movie.....Its one thing that there is absolutely no chemistry b/w the leads.....but the million songs and cheezy stuff gets to you throughout. I thought I would like the story since i love these concept films on family and values etc. mr.sooraj took this tender loving to a whole nother level of brainless. Ofcourse i thought the two saving grace of this was neil and swara and to an extent Salman......can totally skip this ...wait for it on tv....then record it ...so that u can fast forward almost everything.....

60%???? Are you kidding me ?!?!?

LOL! What was the family movie story supposed to be? An action movie?

I will go with the reviews of more reputable reviewers than you as well as the people who watched the movie on twitter (Not talking about SRK & Dpad stans here) when it comes to Sonam Kapoor playing Maithili. The fact that the review cannot even write her character´s name right tells me this one was written by a Sonam Kapoor hater. & a old SB movie nostalgist.

As predicted, the non-actor was a complete waste of space. Now can someone please tell her to go back being a whatever it is that she does best.... go pose in a dress or something.

watched it and now regretting -_-

I think they r being diplomatic as the movie stars Salman Khan....my own sense is that the movie is irrelevant and has a dated subject....

Sonam is such a misfit. I am a huge Salman fan but watching her on screen for 3 hours is cringe-worthy. I couldn't even bear her in the trailer.

WOW!!! Sonam's performance is getting very BAD reviews. The irony of finally getting a movie with a Khan, but for the first time really getting bashed by the critics. Oh well, at least the film will give her, her first 200cr film.

Lol! PV is not the critics, i saw many great ones & the best are from the public who is loving the movie. More to come.

I read several reviews. One said she overacted, the other said they should have given the role to a more natural acting heroine. Lol. One just said she was pretty FULL STOP. Sorry but she is NOT getting good reviews.

Painfull

slow boring and outdated
