Just a few days after Team India were knocked out of the World Cup 2019, reports have emerged about a possible rift within the camp. A report in Dainik Jagran states that the squad is divided into two - with one half supporting Virat Kohli and the other extending its support to Rohit Sharma. The report also states that there is a bias in the selection of players.

Quoting a member of the team, the report mentions that KL Rahul, despite his inconsistent performances, is backed heavily even when he is not performing. On the other hand, Ambati Rayudu was not picked in the World Cup team initially and even when Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar were ruled out because he is not in the best books of the skipper Kohli. The report also added that many members of the camp are unhappy with the duo of Ravi Shastri and Bharat Arun - head coach and bowling coach respectively and many want them to go.

It must be remembered that the decision to send MS Dhoni at number 7 in the semi final was Shastri's. Team India had been reduced to 5 for 3, and desperately needed a calm player in the middle, but the move to send inexperienced players like Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya in a crucial moment when the Kiwi bowlers were on a rampage has not gone down well with many members.

However, the reports stated that Team India is not divided, despite the rifts.
