India vice-captain Rohit Sharma returned to Mumbai on Friday after the team was knocked out of the World Cup 2019 by New Zealand in the semi-final. The Men in Blue fell short by 18 runs in the first semis on Wednesday chasing 240. After a brilliant bowling display by the Indians, the batsmen struggled in overcast conditions and slumped to 5 for 3. A fine innings by Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni took the team close, but agonizingly fell short by 18 runs.

Rohit was the star for India in the World Cup, scoring five hundreds and amassing over 640 runs. He set various records and just fell short of scoring the most runs by a batsman in a single edition of the World Cup. However, he was not able to replicate his form in the semis, struggling against the swinging deliveries of Matt Henry.

Rohit landed in India a few days before the rest of his teammates. It has been reported that the Indian cricketers have been 'stranded' at Manchester as the return tickets could not be arranged. Hence, the players, including Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are likely to stay in Manchester till Sunday.

The logistic planning had gone for a toss after India's World Cup exit on Wednesday. A report stated that tickets for the entire team were available only on or after July 14 - the day of the finals.

“Most of the boys will be in Manchester till July 14 and leave from there. Tickets are being booked after the campaign came to an end yesterday (Wednesday),” a senior BCCI official had stated.
