West Indian left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell has been in the news this ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for his fine performance on the field along with his famous 'salute' celebration, which is on display whenever he picks up a wicket.

The Cottrell salute, as it is known now, is a tribute to his military mates. After picking a wicket, he runs backwards, with his back towards the batter and gives an energetic salute. He then cuts his body loose and swings both his arms in a backlward motion.

He was recently in the news for a Twitter reply that left fans amused. A fan asked him why he has so few followers on Twitter.

“How has @SaluteCotterell only have 904 followers!?”, questioned the fan.

The West Indian is not active on social media and was not as famous before the World Cup commenced as well. But instead of ignoring the tweet, Cottrell replied with a touch of humour.

“Bc (because) my skills are better on the field than in 280 characters”.

After this tweet, Cottrell's number of followers increased to 6426.
