South African cricket team that had been in a rough patch throughout the tournament finally registered their second win in the tournament on Friday against Sri Lanka. The Faf du Plessis side showcased exceptional display of cricket in the game. However, unlike Sri Lanka, the Proteas don't have the chance to qualify for the semi-finals in the tournament.

The South African skipper, Faf du Plessis also expressed his disappointment and stated that the win against Sri Lanka feels bittersweet. He added that it doesn’t feel like it means much and it’s a little bit too late for the team now.

However, he also added that the line and length was harder to face than pace on that wicket. He mentioned that it was a good game over all and the team did themselves justice with the talent that they have in the dressing room.

The skipper also praised the South African bowler, Dwaine Pretorius who claimed three wickets in the match with a brilliant economy of 2.50. Faf said that Dwaine was exceptional in the game and the team have been trying to get him in the playing 11 but it’s a balance thing. The nature of the wicket made him bring Dwaine and Andile early on in the game.

He also admitted that the team hasn't had big partnerships in the matches earlier and one big partnership in this game and everything suddenly felt so much easier.

South Africa will next encounter Australia on Saturday, July 6 at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester.
