Tamil star Ajith Kumar’s mother, Mohini Mani, passed away at the age of 89 in Chennai on May 30, 2026. Her demise comes three years after the passing of Ajith’s father, P. Subramaniam, popularly known as PS Mani, who also passed away at the age of 85 in March 2023.

According to reports, Mohini Mani had been dealing with age-related health issues in recent years. Her passing was confirmed by Cinema Vikatan on Saturday morning and other Tamil outlets later acknowledged the same on social media. While Ajith Kumar and his team have not yet released an official statement, tributes from well-wishers and colleagues began appearing online soon after the same emerged.
Kamal Haasan expresses his grief
Among those who expressed grief was veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who shared a heartfelt message in Tamil on X. He tweeted, “I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Ajitkumar's mother, Mrs. Mohini Mani. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ajitkumar and his family, who are grieving the loss of their beloved mother.”
Admirers of the actor also joined in mourning the loss, offering prayers and support to the bereaved family during this difficult time. Reports suggest that Mohini Mani’s last rites will be conducted at the family’s residence in Palavakkam, Chennai. Ajith, who is currently in Dubai, is expected to return to the city to be with his family and attend the final rites.
