Are Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and Dhanush’s Om set to interchange release dates? Here’s what we know

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is one of the most anticipated films of the year. While reports suggest that the film is being planned for a Diwali 2026 release, fresh speculation indicates that it could swap release dates with Dhanush's Om.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 to interchange release date with Dhanush’s Om?
According to a report by Valai Pechu, Jailer 2 is being eyed for a theatrical release during Diwali 2026. Meanwhile, Dhanush's Om is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 16, 2026, coinciding with the Pooja holidays. The report claims that the makers of Jailer 2 are considering swapping release dates with Om.
If the report turns out to be accurate, Om could move its release to November 2026 instead. However, this remains speculation, and there has been no official confirmation from the makers of either film.

Jailer 2 is the upcoming sequel directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with Rajinikanth reprising his role as Muthuvel Pandian. The film is expected to continue the story from the events of the first installment.
Apart from Rajinikanth, the cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also expected to reprise their appearances from the first film.
In a recent exclusive report by Pinkvilla, it was revealed that Hrithik Roshan has filmed a cameo for the movie. The Bollywood star reportedly completed a two-day shoot for his role, with director Nelson Dilipkumar designing a larger-than-life character for the War actor.
Earlier, the makers had reportedly approached Shah Rukh Khan for the cameo. However, he was unable to take up the role due to his commitments to King.
Om is billed as an action entertainer starring Dhanush in the lead role. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film also features Mammootty, Sreeleela, and Sai Pallavi in pivotal roles. It is planned as the first installment of a two-film franchise, with Sai Abhyankkar composing the music.
Rajinikanth and Dhanush’s work front
Following Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is set to appear in Dharman. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the action thriller also stars Simran, Raashii Khanna, and Yogi Babu in prominent roles.
Looking ahead, the actor also has the tentatively titled KHxRK Reunion in his lineup, which is expected to feature Kamal Haasan as the co-lead.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is next set to headline a film directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu.
