Baahubali: The Eternal War is the upcoming two-part animation movie franchise, directed by Star Wars: Visions fame Ishan Shukla.
The makers of Baahubali are gearing up to bring the animated two-part film franchise Baahubali: The Eternal War to the big screen, with Prabhas reprising the role of Amarendra Baahubali through voice acting.
Now, reports suggest that Evangelion fame Studio Khara has joined the project.
Evangelion’s Studio Khara comes on board for Baahubali: The Eternal War?
According to Variety, Studio Khara, the Japan-based animation studio behind the Evangelion franchise, has come on board Baahubali: The Eternal War - Part 1 to create a dedicated animated sequence for the film.
SlowCurve, the Japanese production company that facilitated Studio Khara’s involvement in the project, will oversee planning and production coordination between the Japanese and international teams.
The segment will be directed by Honma Akira, with Ito Noriko serving as character designer. Maeda Mahiro, who is credited with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, has also joined the project as a key creative contributor. Maeda is currently part of Studio Khara, which is led by Evangelion creator Anno Hideaki.
Baahubali: The Eternal War explores the afterlife journey of Amarendra Baahubali. Earlier, the makers unveiled a teaser for the film. The 2-minute-and-27-second video depicts Baahubali’s soul entering the afterlife, where his spirit performs graceful movements before an idol of Lord Shiva.
Soon after, a grand confrontation unfolds in the fallen city of Patal Lok, Tripura, as Indra and Vishasura engage in a major battle. The teaser concludes on a high note with Baahubali stepping onto the battlefield, leaving fans eager to see what follows.
As the Baahubali saga continues to expand, the film is being helmed by Star Wars: Visions and The Bandits of Golak director Ishan Shukla. The project is produced by Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni, and SS Rajamouli under the banner of Arka Mediaworks.
The story was conceived by Shukla and Sowmya Sharma, with Scott Mosier penning the screenplay. Alongside Prabhas returning to voice Amarendra Baahubali, Ramya Krishnan reprises Sivagami through voice work, while MM Keeravani handles the music composition.
Prabhas’ work front
Prabhas is next set to play the lead role in the period action drama Fauzi. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the film features Imanvi, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and others in key roles.
Additionally, the actor is also working on Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
