Carmeni Selvam follows Selvam, a humble chauffeur who lives a simple life with his wife, Shanthi, and their son. However, growing social and financial pressures push the family to aspire to a better lifestyle. When Selvam begins using his employer's car as a taxi to earn extra income, he gradually falls into a cycle of loans, credit card debt, and risky decisions in pursuit of wealth and status.

As his troubles mount, his personal life begins to unravel. Meanwhile, his wealthy employer, Sampath, struggles with emotional emptiness despite his success. Through the contrasting lives of the two men, the story explores themes of ambition, debt, family, and the realization that every family faces its own challenges. In the end, Selvam takes up a driving job abroad in a bid to rebuild his life and regain peace.

Carmeni Selvam stars P. Samuthirakani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Abhinaya, Karthik Kumar, Badava Gopi, Jangiri Madhumitha, Arjunan, and several others in key roles.

Written and directed by Ram Chakri, the film is produced by Arun Rangarajulu under the banner of Pathway Productions. The music and background score are composed by Musicloud Studio and Technology. Yuvaraj Dakshan handled the cinematography, while Jagan RV and Dinesh S served as the editors.

Gautham Vasudev Menon’s work front

Gautham Vasudev Menon is next expected to appear in Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan. Directed by H. Vinoth, the action drama is expected to be released in June 2026. Moreover, the filmmaker-actor's long-delayed film Dhruva Natchathiram is also anticipated to hit the big screens soon.
