Chiranjeevi and Bimbisara director Mallidi Vassishta joined hands for the first time for the epic fantasy film Vishwambhara. After a long wait, it now appears that the Megastar-starrer may finally hit the big screens on October 16, 2026.

Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara to release on October 16, 2026?

According to Aakashavaani, Vishwambhara is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release on October 16, 2026, coinciding with Dussehra this year. The film has been in production for quite some time, likely due to the extensive VFX work required for the fantasy epic.

While the makers have yet to officially announce the release date, reports suggest that the film could arrive in the same release window as Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which is also reportedly targeting a theatrical release around the same time.

Vishwambhara is an upcoming Telugu-language fantasy action film directed by Mallidi Vassishta. Featuring Chiranjeevi in the lead role, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor, Ashika Ranganath, and several others in key roles.

MM Keeravani has composed the film’s music and background score, while Chota K. Naidu has handled the cinematography. The editing is being done by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao and Santhosh Kamireddy.

On the other hand, Jailer 2 is the upcoming sequel directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, with Rajinikanth reprising his role as Muthuvel Pandian. The film is expected to continue the story following the events of the first installment.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the cast reportedly includes Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also expected to reprise their appearances from the first film. Additionally, reports suggest that Hrithik Roshan may make a special cameo appearance in a larger-than-life role. However, the makers have not officially confirmed these details.

Chiranjeevi’s work front

Chiranjeevi was last seen in the lead role in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi. The action-comedy entertainer featured Nayanthara as the female lead, along with a special appearance by Venkatesh Daggubati.

The Megastar is currently filming his next project, tentatively titled Mega158, directed by Bobby Kolli. The film co-stars Anaswara Rajan and Nivetha Pethuraj and is billed as an action entertainer, with Thaman S composing the music and background score.
